ashleywater
Was in my VW stealers this morning, one of the sales who is well clued up, on things, yep I was surprised as well, said that DSG spec cars could not be ordered at this time, and that VW would'nt give them any date, for placing orders! and that I was a lucky ******* to have got one, of the four dealership showrooms in the group, they have one car each and they are all manuals. Red would probably be able to answer this one? I asked about retrofit of cruise on the DSG car, as this was possible on MK4, apparently cant be done at this time to a DSG car, something to do with the electronics! has anybody out there got a DSG gti with cruise? AGK512
hixter ... So in conclusion is your order actuall on the system ?? On Sat my local dealer could not order a dsg r32 as there was no dsg option box on his screen. Will be nipping in tomorrow for final look and sign on dooted. Hope he has some more news ... ! Incidentally I think the last memo posted on here was Nov 16th saying about delay till further notice Cheers
ashleywater
Thanks for the info arg! i can now ask why the *eck they cant fit it! The stealers lying tec, said that they had attempted to retrofit cruise to a DSG Tdi, and could'nt do it!! so reading between the lines, he does'nt know how to do it. Oh by the way arg thanx for the excellent article you wrote on your MK4 DSG experience, have always been a pure porridge stirrer until I read ur post, and have now become DSG convert, one of the reasons for shamefully trading in the Mk4,which is an absolute corker of a car. hixster
Hey MayConvToVW, In conclusion I guess (as I haven't seen a computer screen or system) is that nope I ain't on the system. I am probably in the same boat as you, in the fact that I have a paper order for a 3DR DSG, DBP , Leather + Recarros. I've paid £1000 downpayment. Guess we'll have to see what materialises in the coming months. I'm not too phased at the mo as i've gotta sell my V6 4 motion on,which is only 18months old. so that gives me some breathing space, i'd always planned to get rid of it after 2 yrs. if I got the 'R' in the first 6 months of next year that'd be cool. Any longer and I'd consider something else. Let me know if you get any more info tomo' when you sign up :-)

RedRobin
As petsy says, AwesomeGTI can fit Cruise to a Mk5. A call to them will clear up any question about whether DSG is an obstacle to doing this in the Mk5 R32. I don't think it's safe to assume that what works in the Mk4 R32 will work in the Mk5. ashleywater
Well Red as I said on another post, tech said that the ecu in the Mk5 is unique to the MK5 R32 car latest generation apparently, so this could be the issue with integrating cruise as non factory extra at the moment. RedRobin
Ah, I remember your post now! And this could also be the reason why re-mapping the new R32 will not be at all easy. I'm only speculating and don't know the specifics.

[/ QUOTE ] You can definatly fit Cruise to A MK5 R32, I have have my fitted on my Mk5 GTI DSG so it isnt a problem! It should cost you about £170 from a dealer fitted. If you're in Kent we can do it for you! R32 is now available to order in DSG as of this morning but expect a longer lead time!
AGK512
Hi hixster and all Well went back to dealers this morning to see the car in the daylight .... have to say I was a bit disapointed .... they always say never buy a car in the wet or at night Ironically the shiny trim didn't look too bad in the light ... just the rest of the interior ! When I went for the TD thats what I did got in and drove I completely agree with all the mag coments about the interior then again I suppose it is really basically a 10k car with 20k worth of stuff bolted on. Those three round dials and the slidy bits are all REALLY plasticaly and that gaiter at the back of the steeing wheel looks naff. Still I'm not buying the car cos of the interior but it has got me thinking how long I keep it. I think the rattles will start quite soon. Any GTIers reading this... any squeaks and rattles on yours ? Still it is slightly better build quality than one of my previous hot hatches .... Renault 5 GT Turbo ! remeber those ..... made from egg boxes but when like stink ... just don't ever crash it Well despite my chilly morning reservations I remembered the TD and signed on the dotted with a clause to say I can decline the order after 31st March if I wish I see from another thread DSG orders open this afternoon ? so I hope the dealer calls me tomorrow to say he's ordered my R32 DSG It's gona need a 3.2V6 with all the extras .... still my wallet will be ALOT lighter but the 'car' is still under 30k .... just ! ashleywater
Matt, still getting this cruise control issue at my stealers, they are saying that the new generation ecu which is fitted ONLY to the R32 and not the gti is the problem, and retrofit at stealers is not an option yet! is there anyway you could confirm this with anyone your end,as I would like to fit cruise, cheers ash
Matt R
Send me a mail on Monday reminding me, and I will ask my licensed Tech, he knows pretty much everything! I would be very surprised if you can't or If they have even tried it!
