Rayza
I have spoken to my stealers and aparantly my car is being built this week (48)and told me to expect delivery 2nd week of Jan (Wk03), does it really take 8 weeks?? (thats if your name is not LeMan - sorry mate could not resist, but on a serious note I do feel for ya mate!) Or is it a new disease called Stealer-itis (where they dont have a clue what they are talking about). They said they will call me next week to see if this is still the case. Confused, cos I am. TwoSheds
My experience ( with DSG ) is about five weeks from start of build to expected delivery date (unless you're you know who....... sorry not a dig ) Having said that I'll wait until I physically see the car to back that up. May be the factory / shipping is affected to some extent by scheduling the Christmas holiday into it. I don't know. Seems a bit random recently. neillloyd
I'm also confused. Just spoke to my stealer who told me my dsg is in final assembly check stage 7 and I can expect it in the next 3 weeks! Originally build week 49. Panic on now to sell my MkIV. Can anyone shed any light on stage 7 etc?
delboy240575
In my experience the whole build schedule, build week and estimated delivery is affected by so many factors there is no use in trying to guestimate. I waited for almost 4 months for a confirmed production start date. This was only confirmed once I had contacted VW customer services and seemed to get a particularly efficient advisor who chased the factory to confirm a date (week 47, I was being quoted week 51 at the earliest until I did this). A friend who ordered from the same dealer, same car essentially at the same time who phoned VW a day after me is still awaiting a confirmed start date! Even then, my first update call from VW was to tell me the car had started a week early, and today it is at dockside awaiting shipping! So, christ knows what happened there, not that I mind. So don't try and figure it out, bistromathics makes more sense!

delboy240575
Oh, both cars are manual so forget the whole "DSG are being held up" scenario, it doesn't seem to be the sole reason for delay.
delboy240575
It's not so much knowing who ordered the rice, but more what did you order? How many people ordered the same thing? and who actually brought any money to pay for the bloody thing?
simkna
It was more a comment on the bistromathics... oh, never mind. Si.
Simonl
please don't get me started. I now (through accident) have an email address direct to Wolfsburg so I am hammering them directly. It was quite amusing getting a flustering of panic from VW UK when big brother phoned them up asking what was going on and why they aren't they keeping there customers sweet. simkna
Don't forget that in common with many car companies, VW UK are nothing to do with VW. They are effectively an importing outfit. Let's hope you get results now you've got hold of someone on "the inside" Si.

mu71rd
so VW UK are basically a larger, fatter version of Select then! it all starts to make sense!!! just found out that our cars won't come with english manuals to start with, because they've run out! they are being special delivery couried once they've got some! think I probably know most things. Are there silly things like you must press the brake to move the auto gear stick or something? no confusing alarm/immobiliser functions are there?! punas
When I ordered my DSG, I was given a build week of 48 (collect in January). Then, at the start of November I received a phone message from the dealer saying it would be build week 50 (he sold me a November allocation, so had to wait for November to place the order I guess, but I don't know where he got week 48 from in the first place?). I assumed the 2 week delay was related to DSG, but still expected the car in January. I had a call today saying that the car was being built and was at the 'paint checking phase', or something like that. I expressed my surprise that VW had started building it and the dealer said it had been brought forward to week 49? But clearly week 49 is in December, so what does that really mean - 'build complete in week 49'? Anyway, I was wondering whether anybody knows what phases were in the build process and roughly what happens in each phase? My dealer still talked about 'January' as a target date, which is fair enough, mit Christmas und New Year! I am fortunate in that I don't mind the wait, any time in January would be fine, for Christmas would have been great. I imported my previous car, so a wait of 3 months is easier than a wait of 6 months. Cheers.
RedRobin
Yes you must press foot brake to activate DSG stick. It becomes unconscious habit after the first day. Keyfob buttons need learning and pressing very firmly. Loads of goodies though....You won't like this car!
RedRobin
Welcome Punas. It used to be 12 weeks from official order with deposit but recently it's all gone haywire! I've posted the earlier schedule but it doesn't seem to be reliable anymore.

Rayza
Yet more confusion. I am not going to try and pin my hopes on any any particular delivery time, will just wait for the call to say its here!!! Oh and in the mean time I can, like everyone else, just blame WiteHartMart, lol. Well it is good to see some people are lucky 2 weeks, wow - if only that happened to me and everyone else ofcourse, wishfull thinking.
silentandy
It really does seem to be a lottery! Mine took no more than 7 days to get from the factory to the dealers, even the dealer was surprised at how quick mine got there and said "they must have airlifted it over". Even more bizarre was that someone at the same dealer who had ordered pretty much the similar spec a week after me, got theirs 1 week before me! Whereas others took 3 weeks or more. The wonders of German 'efficiency'.
