NewNiceMrMe
I'm not going to go on with swathes of prose on this one. Basically, if you have a couple of hours to kill this is worth watching because it's one of the very few films I have watched this year that has managed to mix action, effects and lots of laughs very effectively. Jessica Alba helps of course - because she's stunning in it. However, don't expect an Oscar winning storyline. It's very Marvel-based and it sticks to what they did well. Good old fashioned ridiculously unbelieveable superhero's and silly 'impossible' rescues. Yet it manages to do it in such a way that it's a very enjoyable film. The effects of The Torch are fantastic, as are those of the original Stretch-Rubber-Flexi-whathisname man played by the welsh gadgy who does Horatio Hornblower so well too! I know his name, but this way you'll know who I mean straight away! The best part is the one-liner mix. It's superb. They're everywhere and they're all predictable - but the timing and delivery is to perfection. The scene where Torch teases the Thing to slap his own face....is brilliance. So for a light hearted, easily watched, middle of the road, non-political, and generally very cheery film - it's very good! It also makes for lots of sequels - and I for one will look forward to Jessica Alba getting her kit off even more often!

TriGGa
[ QUOTE ] The scene where Torch teases the Thing to slap his own face....is brilliance. [/ QUOTE ] That scene had me in stitches! The wonders of jessica alba made this film! However the scene where Dr doom: lets not fight Alba: lets *does forward motion* looks soo fake and is an utter disappointment! MrMe did you have the 2 disc edition?? Because on that there is an Xmen 3 thingy which i watched and left me well n truelly I was hoping for some decent info on the film and got a crappy directors talk! felixthecat1
Ever so slightly off topic but yes the XMen is looking juicy. As for The Fantastic Four, it was only okay fro me. I thought it was a poor second to Batman Begins and will fade when Superman comes out next year. There's something about Superman that sets it above the rest, anyway I'm off topic again. Dave
I bought this for the kids.. we've all enjoyed it.. yea, it's a bit far fetched but that's what's it's all about!!
bulb
Personally i thought this was a poor effort. If it hadn't got Jessica Alba in it, I would have turned it off. Even worse than the hulk. I can see that kids would like it, but i'll stick to x-men.
