ClimberSP
Here I have a Nurburgring list time. I'ts good to see that the New R32 is 5 seconds faster than the old one, and faster also than the New BMW 130i... I show you the times for the VW models: New R32: 8:32 BMW 130i: 8:35 Golf IV R32: 8:37 Golf GTI DSG: 8:52 Golf V6 4 Motion: 9:09 List: http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=3&fID=0&tID=10073 It starts to grow on me, after seen other cars, I still think that New R32 is a very good car. pomme
Just wondering but is it always the same driver?
ClimberSP
No, it's evident, and the conditions change, but it gave an idea of what the cars can do on a trak. From the list, take a look to the begining, there is the time of the Bugatti Veyron (lower than many cars as the Carrera GT).
R32North
Rock on the old MKIV R32. Might not be as fast as the new R32 but I bet it was pre-#6463. Take that into account now and I'm sure it would be closer.
Soulboy
This also seems verrrry sloooow ? 8:51* -- 139.661 km/h -- Ford Focus ST, 225 PS/1330 kg (sport auto 09/05) (*mfr.)

robin09
I think its a rubbish experiment unless its the same driver trying each car one after the other. Theres too many variables on a course 10 miles long, especially the weather.
Mook
It's all rubbish Robin - no-one's interested in how fast cars go round the Nurburgring...
pomme
I think the driver has to be the same, not even considering 6463, weather, fuel etc etc. As think how Sebine Smit (spelling?) went round the berg in a ford transit at nearly the same speed that Klarkson went round in a lot faster car (was it a lexus?) Daemon
Stick with the cars driven by Sport Auto. They test everything there, know the track well, and presumably many if not all of their tests are done with the same driver. Anything else could be driven by Michael Schumaker or your granny, for all we know. ian
catman
Autocar took they long term Focus RS round the ring in 8:34 and that is a standard car, peak speed 144mph. The test also included Murcielago which lapped in 7:43 peak 176mph. New Focus ST is 10 seconds quicker so must be around 8:20.
