Hi AliJay, thanks for the link - It explains the science of it very well. However, I think that most drivers considering Millteks and which version to go for are more concerned about what their ears tell them and the sole purpose of my originally posting the decibel data (supplied to me by Milltek) was to give comparitive data to help their decisions. The link you refer me to states: "In order for us to register a sound as being twice as loud as another sound, its amplitude (intensity or sound pressure level) must actually be ten times greater" - The fact remains that regardless of the science, the loudest Milltek of 97.1 dB does not sound anything like even twice as loud as the standard 89 dB, let alone four or ten times as loud.

By telling people here that it's even twice as loud may possibly be scientifically correct but gives entirely the wrong impression. Ask everybody on this site who has Millteks how much louder their exhaust system is than was on their standard car. Perhaps I should not have published the dB data but left it at 'sounds only as loud as a standard sports car and nothing even approaching the loudness of a typical boy-racer system'.

The science is interesting but potentially misleading. Cheers 169144-ok.gif
