MikeeB
I've got a 52 plate Polo, where the washer flud bottle is located somewhere in lower parts of near side front wing. Anyway, the rear wash wipe is not working, as the supply tube has either broken or come off, i.e. when I do the rear wash wipe, washer fluid appears from underneath the front left hand side of the car. Before looking into this further, can anyone give any clues as to the best access point to the tubes/motor area, as I can't see bugger all from either the top or underneath the car. Cheers -- Mike
hotdog
I think its going to be a case of taking the front left wheel off and also removing the wheel arch liner to get at the gubbins. Although not a VW polo, my van is like this. You see the top of the bottle in the engine bay and nothing else, all the gubbins are behind the wheel arch liner
Ritey
Does it have a big plastic cover under the engine, I'm guessing it does, might be worth getting the car on axel stands wipping it off and getting a light under to have a good look
R32North
The pipe popped off my washer bottle for my Audi 80..... wheel off, arch liner off, very mucky, pain in the ar5e, for a 2 second job to pop the tube back onto the lug on the washer bottle. daz60932
this is an easy diy repair, buy some washer pipe and 2 8mm jubilee clips, look in your engine bay down by the abs unit. Its a black circle on a square which has 4 tubes coming out of it. Its located half way down on the passenger side of the engine bay towards the back theres some wiring looms running towards and then behind it, the washer pipe runs along by these looms and has a join which commonly comes apart here. (get a mate to work the washer while you watch to spot the end if you have difficulty finding it) simply pull both ends of the washer pipe free (you may have to pull the one side from behind the abs unit) and cut both ends off slide the pipe and clips over both end and tighten, problem solved. If it still leaks it will leak in your rear quarter passenger side, go into the boot and pull the side carpet( start by the light to almost by the back seat and it will strike you in the face. It may also leak under the boot trim but these are less common than the other two. i know this sounds complicated buts its seriously not hard at all
daz60932
just thought, if the water is leaking in front of your wheel, it will be something to do with the washer bottle and will require wheel arch liner off like the other guys have said. DaddyDub
Make sure you clip it back on with a Jubalie(sp?) clip, cos once it pops off, it's gonna keep hapening.
