BenjaminTDI
[ QUOTE ] What is "Ambient Lighting" exactly? Daft question I know, but what's it for? [/ QUOTE ] It's to project a red glow over the console at night. Some find it 'pleasant' but personally I like to change CDs at night on back roads (yes I know its silly ) and without the ambient lighting I couldn't see what CD I was changing to without putting the map reading lights on. The red glow is still nice, mind. The other half likes it so I guess that's all that matters!

Kaskat
God no! not blue neon footwell lighting I meant retro fitting the OEM ones, as the holes are there and I think with a little investigation so is the wiring I'll let you know how I get on (probably wait untill the weather warms a little though)

wmrme01
how long did it take?; i ordered mine last Thursday and they said it would take 5 to 10 days. (and like a big kid hope it's 5 days)
Sponge
Done As you can see from the final pictures, drilling the holes has left a few marks. The black colouring has been removed, exposing the whiter plastic underneath. I'm hoping a black pen will hide it. I might nip out later and get a picture of how it lights up the interior. Milo
I hadn't thought about the black headlining/cover etc. I assume the plastic moulding was all black not just a black surface on a lighter moulding Nelllllsonnnnn How much is a new 'black' cover with the holes already in for the ambient lighting mate? [/ QUOTE ] You can't order the black covers pre-drilled unfortunately This is the biggest grip I had when doing mine, but I was able to pull it off so it looks perfect The secret to getting the best finish is to take it slow an be VERY patient. It might be worth contacting the manufacturer of the trim itself to see if they'll supply them to anyone other than Audi for the factory. On another note, I'm suprised the Black version of the Interior light is litterally just painted over If I'd known Audi had just used a can of 3M spray paint I would've done the black headlining mod years ago
