lottiefox
Pondering getting a little summer car - topless motoring appeals for a few months and I really can't manage the Boxster (not this year!!) It will be my second car - how does this work with insurance? I believe that your no claims bonus does not work on a second policy? Do you have to start again? I think Admiral are looking at changing some of their policies to accomodate this situation but would that mean you needed to have your primary policy with them too? is it cheaper to go with the insurer that you already use? If you go on line for quotes there isn't anywhere that says you have to say it is a second car? But I wouldn't be ending my policy on the TT with 8 years no claims, so can I still say I have this in relation to another car? Confused. But I've had a very blonde weekend. Anyone got any tips or recommendations? Help appreciated, thanks.

peterb
When I bought the MR2 (you really should try one before settling for anything less - like an MX-5 ), I found that AA Insurance services seem to accept no claims earned on a first car, even when the first car is insured with another company. Just get an online quote from here.
lottiefox
Peter I do like the MR2s but am very limited on budget. I think the MX5 is a great little car for what I want it for, and there are some good ones out there!

lottiefox
Good point Thorburn!! How can I go shopping and take a passenger with an MR2?!!
peterb
It all depends on how much shopping you want to get - there is some usable space in the lockers behind the seats, and it's not as though the boot in the MX-5 is cavernous! We manage to use ours for weekends away in Norfolk. ... and, of course, the MR2 is a little bit like a Boxster! I'm not sure what your budget is, but there's one at the Gloucester Toyota dealers for £8k. I guess that the problem is that the Roadster didn't come out until 2000. peterb
[ QUOTE ] You're right, the automatic box on the MX-5 is rubbish [/ QUOTE ] I'd heard that the MX-5 auto box was quite reasonable - but it was only sold in the UK for one year - 2002. Oh, and the engine was de-tuned for the benefit of the box!
Alastair_A3
Caterham 7? you can get them for around 10k if you look around, goes like stink too, you dont want an MX5 they are sluggish as hell!
