theduisbergkid
I was thinking about a merc 200 ce, dead cheap, and available in some very scumball colours from the 70s too....
Soapsuds
hhhmmm - change in plan now. Looks like my co-driver has dropped out. My best mate is hopefully filling the gap and he has an old Mk2 fiesta sat in his garage - not moved for 2 years! Its has a turbo-technics conversion and water-charging on it - we just need to get it going, MOT'd and up to scratch! Excellent.....

Soapsuds
[ QUOTE ] Is it an XR2 TT? I heard a lot about these when I was on the forum at www.xrtwo.com [/ QUOTE ] yes - it is the same colour as this one on HERE Apparently, it needs a new head gasket and some head porting. It blew its load on the A34 in Wilmslow at 165 mph chasing an M3 It has a factory Turbo Technics set-up, straight from RS in Manchester (when they were alive and kicking!). Uprated intercooler has been fitted and water injection added later in its life. I think it's running some wild piper cams also, but that's all my mate can remember, as he re-built it 2 years ago, but then got a job abroad. So, it's pretty much ready to go. Actually has mould growing all over the interior as it is used as a storage bin in my mates garage at the moment! Will be doing some before / after pics during getting it road worthy and will post here if anyone is interested!?

I suspect some enhancement of the story there, old boy. I guess there's a couple of places it's theoretically possible. A555 is better though - just ask the Stratstone boys about the letter from Cheshire Constabulary they have hung up in the service area. It's pretty specific about what would happen next time they caught a 550 Maranello doing over 180 and "no-one could remember who was driving". [/ QUOTE ] yea, probably.... i know it has hit 165mph on the RR as i have seen the print outs. Put together that power, but with weight on the road, wind, aerodynamics of a brick and naff ford speedos and 140 is probably more realistic as an absolute MAX... Either way, its quick! oh and it was on the downhilly bit between Summerfields R'bout and wilsmlow - bit of a slope aiding it!!!

Soapsuds
306 is dull as hell - not really in the spirit of scumball!!! Would be awesome doing it in a Robin Reliant! Not sure what the handling would be like on the banked corners of te 'ring though Maybe i could get some stabilisers....
Soapsuds
5 turbos are going up and up in value now! Clio williams seem to have stabilised about £3-5k for a decent motor! There are a few taking 5's.... Looks like i am off in a Fiesta XR2 Turbo Technics.... will be confirming this over a few beers in..... ooh 30 mins!
