Malcolm44
Thanks to Craigyb I have now managed to Vag-Com my RNS-e unit . However when we try to recode the telephone it wont change. We get the box up after pressing 7(recode) and everything looks fine. We enter the new code and press "Do It" and nothing. The box goes away and the code remains unchanged. Anyone got any ideas - by the way its a A4 (B7) STG
craigyb
What is your software version in the RNS-E? It wont accept 7 unless you have 330 or above, ie 2005_1 disk or above

Malcolm44
Telephone module STG 77 from 0001622, to 0011622.
craigyb
first of all try 10722 and see if it accepts that, that is the one I use for nearly all installs
Malcolm44
I went and reset the system as you suggested and the telephone mode now says that a telephone is not installed. Previously (before the RNS was recoded) I could see the phone and its network provider, now nothing and it still mutes in Bluetooth. The guy with the Vag-Com is over the other side of the city and will see him 2morro lunchtime and try as you suggest. Unless the above changes things. Thanks again for your valuable assistance
Malcolm44
Just looking at your suggested coding the 10722 is for a car without the Multi function wheel. I have this already in my car so would you agree to 11822 - so that it comes up on the HU aslo?
craigyb
When you recode to 10722, you need to reset the RNS-E to accept the coding as well, hold radio and setup for 10 secs to reset the RNS-E. can you check the part number of the telephone module under VAG, it should be 8P0 862 335 C or F to accept the high codings. craigyb
10722 is as follows.... 1 - D3/C6 High-System 0 - non multifunction steering wheel 7 - HU and K-line 2 - English (UK) 2 - English (UK) 11622 is as follows 1 - D3/C6 High-System 1 - standard steering wheel 6 - MFK and K-line 2 - English (UK) 2 - English (UK)
Malcolm44
OK. The unit part number is 8P0 862 335 D. The telephone module will not accept 10722 i.e. will not accept the 1xxxx part will accept everything else it is currently coded to 1822
craigyb
Thats why, only the C/F modules accept the high coding. The D modules are for symphony/concert installs and do not need the high functionality as they come with a cradle to read the SIM card etc. Swap the module for a C/F they are about £250 from the dealers. Consequently, if you have a D module and code the RNS-E to 7 for handy, that causes problems and the RNS-E must be coded to 2, well that's what I found when I was playing with it. Malcolm44
Is the SIM data only available through bluetooth?, what if the phone is in the Cullmann cradle, does it not talk through CAN or something?. Or am I missing something. Basically I just want it to function like the DIS with the names in phonebook
craigyb
The D module will read the SIM if the phone is in the cradle.
Malcolm44
so does that mean I have to code for the Cullmann kit rather than the "plate" (7 I think) Because I can see the phone signal and network provider now, just not the SIM data
