benjie
The glow lug warning light on a diesel mis the engine management light. Try starting the car, get your wife to put her foot on the brake pedal and see if the rear brake lights are working. f not, that's what's causing the warning light - a broken brake pedal switch. not much from a dealer, depending on type about £14. Is that's not the problem, the best thing to do is get it hooked up to a VAG-COM - a computer program similar to that of the dealers that many members (including me) own. they can read the car's computer and find out why it's got the warning up. compbuild
Thanks a lot Benjie Yep, that is the problem, cant these be replaced DIY, and if I do that will the light reset itself or will it keep displaying a fault?

benjie
Apparently it's easy to do yourself, but I chickened out and had my vw specialist do it when he did the service (my prob lem was only intermittent) You have to make sure you get the switch fully extended or something!!
