AndyWoodall
Just been booking a test drive in a new Polo GTi demonstrator and (despite the Golf being out of budget right now, so didn't push for a drive) asked about a quick test in a Golf GTi also. The salesman (a chap called Cam, Birmingham VW-very helpful) said they'd got two, a manual and a DSG, with the DSG being in Blue Graphite. I'd never heard of that colour so after getting off the phone I checked their used car stock list and sure enough, theres a 3dr DSG, in this colour. Heres the link... Golf at Brum VW In my time of lurking I've not seen anyone here with one, is there anyone hiding out there? Anyone seen this colour in the metal? It looks VERY nice in the picture, kind of like my Lupo's pearl effect Grey Anthracite, but with a blue-ish tint. Looks
RedRobin
Not a common colour and not my personal favourite....TBH probably my least favourite. But, to be fair, it's always best to see one in the flesh. Try a Search in last 9 months on "Graphite Blue" or "Blue Graphite" in the GTI forum and you should find some pics. nhs
It's another of those "stealers know all" issues see for example the 16 inch wheels on the car - look remarkably like the Monza/Detroit 18 inch to me Again VW dealer listing bloopers have been the subject of many past threads
Paddy_Driver
Andy, don't mind Robin - he is obsessed with Red A few of us Irish have the Blue Graphite (2-3 I know of) and it is a top colour If it has the 18"s then it is just even better cause the kinda two tone inner's of the rim match the car paint work. All said, like any dark paint it is bitch to keep clean and shows up any marks and holograms under the halogen light test but overall it is great. Sure why would you be wanting Red or that oul common Steel Grey Regards Paddy Oh No... I can only guess what this post is going to start
RedRobin
....You'll have to keep guessing then cos I don't bother with any colour competitions. "My colour is the fastest" has got a bit tired now, methinks. Blue Graphite looks much better in that linked dealer pic I have to say.

Paddy_Driver
I have to say that the Laser Blue (If thats what it is) does look great next to the Blue Graphite (Our colour) and we would have probably gone for it but for the fact that my brother in law had a 1.4 Golf in similar ruled that out... lucky too cause now he has got a new 1.4 Golf in a blue too and sold his original blue to the mother in law... outside our house looks distinctly Golf sometimes (My Dad has a silver golf). Anyway... Blue Graphite is not "really" blue so we get away with it All GTI's look great in all colours... it is just a really cool car Paddy
AndyWoodall
Ah, thought I might have spotted a first there. Really taken with the colour, I like the various blue shades that owners on here have, and I like steel grey, but if I'm honest I've been hankering after a slightly 'different' colour, in the same way that the Grey in my Lupo is very rare among other Lupo GTi's. GTiMK5
Ken, looks good, that coulour works well with the red in the grill and the callipers.
Atlantis
My local dealer had a blue graphite GTi in stock when I was first looking around, and it looked great in the showroom under their lighting. It had a real sparkle to the finish, and the non-colour coded skirts didn't stand out like they do with other colours. It was my 2nd choice of colour, but I was put off by the thought that it may look a bit dull under the usual British weather, and also the upkeep. Timski
Credit where credit's due Ken - your motor looks fantastic in those photos. I saw a blue graphite GTI in the showroom at my local dealer a while back. I think it's well classy and I would agree that it compliments the 18s especially well. They put the car on as a demo after that and I saw it a few weeks later stinking dirty - it looked just as good with that 'rallied' look. I would imagine this colour really comes into its own on a sunny day - not that we get many of those!
AndyWoodall
Ken, what can I say, WOW is about all I can come up with. I've finally found a GTi colour I'm 100% sure about. Am I correct in thinking its a pearl effect colour? Thanks for sharing the pictures Ken, I look forward to seeing that colour in the metal when I go for my Polo GTi test drive. It does remind me of my Lupo's colour, and thats a good thing imho...

[/ QUOTE ] I know Red, I've read enough of your posts in my months of lurking to know your a sincere chap. I've loved my time with the Lupo, and it will be difficult to ever change it (and I don't think I will, I'll keep it whatever I get next), even for a car I'm very taken with, such as the Golf GTi. If you fancy a read about my car, I'm writing about it (monthly ish!) at Auto-Journals.com.
