s3ollie
hi just wondered if anyone can give me some advice on removing the glove box on my 1999 s3. i need to gain access to the airbag wiring to check the connectors as i have fault code: 00589 Airbag ignighter passenger side (n131) 32-10 intermitent. after reserching on the net i have found its a common connector prob but cant find anything to help with removal. any advice greatfully accepted
RobA3
Hi ollie before you dismantle the glove box I thought the connector was somewhere under the passenger seat
audiquattro
The glove box is fairly simple, just remove the plastic cover on the side of the dash, remove the screws (about 8 of them i think), then theres 3 inside the glove box at the top and one last one in the bottom right hand corner in the footwell. Should come out then, apart from the curtesey light wire
s3ollie
RobA3 i have been told the (N131) in the dtc refers to the front airbag. i have removed the glovebox unplugged and cleaned the conector to the airbag and no joy. any ideas. i have now one more code come up on vagcom 01228 Airbag swithch off passenger side(E224). because i did another test and fogot to connect the switch back up. still cant get rid of any of the codes! Paul
ive had my glovebox out once or twice with no error codes, but i did turn off the airbag via the switch first iirc. I didnt have vagcom at the time, and it didnt throw any airbag warning lights. should be able to clear it if you have reinstated the cables to the switch, i would have thought.
