A4Ade
I fitted the washer bottle level sender last nite and have earthed one wire just behind the glove box and have the other one in behind the instrument cluster but am sadly still waiting for the wire to put into the T32 connector to arrive in the post! I'm the other way around - I have wired in to the instrument cluster, earthed and fed some cable through to the passenger footwell, but am just waiting to install the sensor. I had a go the other week - got the wheel off, the wheel arch lining out, and found what I thought was a route through into the car, but could not actually see a way through. I think a second person would have been useful, and I was in a bit of a rush so had to give up and get everything back together. Very annoying when I think I was so close! Don't suppose you took a pic of exactly where you fed your wire through from the wheel arch into the car? Cheers, Ade
Flakmunky
I have the sensor but am waiting for the washer bottle to empty... One question - does any one know the code for the plug that plugs in to the sensor? TIA fM
A4Ade
does any one know the code for the plug that plugs in to the sensor? I didn't know there was one - I have attached my cable using two spade connectors. It might not work yet, of course! Ade
alanstead
Hi, I also just used two spade connectors to attach to the sensor, then filled it with silicone. Once I had the wheel arch liner out, on the right hand side there are two sets of grommets. The wiring for the washer scoosh motor runs from the bottle, across the top of the wheel arch liner in an open cable conduit to one of these grommets. On that grommet there was a spare hole which just needed the end chopped of with some side cutters, I then poked the wiring through and it comes out behind the glove box on the left hand side of the car. Was much easier than I thought it might be! Sorry, I never thought to take any photo's. I then ran one cable up to a large earthing point on a cross member behind the glove box, then the other cable through behind the radio and its just behind the dash now. My wire connector should be here tomorrow so hopefully it will all work! I just took the glove box off, and also the equivalent part under the steering wheel for ease of feeding the cables about. Both came off easily. Hope this of help. Alan

That sounds like the grommet I found - and I also snipped off the end of the spare hole, but when I tried to poke through to the car I couldn't seem to get through. Still, good to know I was on the right track - when I have a bit more time I'll give it another go. Cheers, Ade
Flakmunky
Yes, I was also just going to use spade connectors but on the sensor it looks as if there is a channel that a rubber boot would fit over to secure it in place... It was this I was wondering about. On a side note, how to Audi react to these modifications - would they invalidate the warranty?
alanstead
I agree, There is definitely a wiring connector which goes on to the sensor, but I assumed that you could probably only get it as part of a wiring harness. Could well be wrong though. Someone said that on the newer A4's there is the connector hanging in the wing just waiting to be connected to the sensor. Im sure if you speak to the guy at vag parts or your local stealers they would tell you if you can get a proper connector.
no_idea
Hi, I have just installed both dis and cruise to my A4 avant. All went fairly well, thanks to all those who have contributed here. Doing the last bit of coding can be a bit nerve racking when all the lights are flashing on the dash. When I installed my washer bottle sensor wire I managed to route it down one of the existing large rubber boots into the passenger foot well without too much trouble. I bought the plug, along with the correct connectors, that fits into the sensor, this makes it a very neat job. I picked up an earth using one of the bolts that holds the washer bottle in place, it saves having to run two wires into the footwell. The part numbers are: Washer bottle sensor: 7M0 919 376 Contact Housing (plug): 1J0 973 202 Connector Wires: 000 979 009A Connector Wires: 000 979 133A I can't remember which of the wires are for the sensor plug and which are for the connector on the instrument cluster, but as you need one of each of these anyway I don't suppose it matters. If you haven't seen these wires before they are just a short length of wire with a connector crimped on each end. You cut it and join up to it. I soldered my connecting wire and then put a piece of heat shrink over the top. I bought all my parts from Norwich Audi. They were extremely helpful (thanks Paul and Kevin in parts) and the prices were good. They were quite interested in the mods I was carrying out. The problem main dealers seem to come up against is Audi not giving them any info on retrofitting stuff. The official line is "it cannot be done". Durrsaku
Nice. What bits do i need though? i haven't got a clue? I installed the cruise by myself but that was straight forward just a case of replacing stalk and then enabling with vag-com which i did.
shark_90
Well try buying the wiper stalk with the DIS buttons and try enabling that.. worth a try!!
Flakmunky
Update: My washer bottle finally emptied a couple of weeks ago and so I fitted the washer bottle sensor. The wire from Pin 1 in my 2007 A4 ended up in the black multiplug in the passenger footwell. If memory serves correctly, it was pin 9 (red and brown)... I had the relevant repair wire lying around to suit so it was a very easy job to do. While the glovebox was out I added the A/C vent pipe to the glovebox, tapped in to the retrofit Bluetooth microphone wires for the RNS-E so I could enable SDS... All working and all great! SJF
Hi all, I hope someone will be able to help me. I have purchased all the parts to install DIS on my 2002 (B6) Audi A4 3.0 Quattro Auto and I set about enthusiatically this morning to do the retrofit. However, having removed the airbag & steering wheel I wasn't able to remove the steering wheel cowling, all the instructions I have been able to find just say use a long reach torx screw driver. I have tried a T10, T15. T20, T25 and T30 in the whole under the cowling, none of which have had the desired effect! So my question, does anyone know exactly which size torx driver is needed to remove the cowling as I'm afraid of damaging the head of the screw by using the wrong one. Many thanks in advance. Simon I've answered my own question by trawling other forums, incase its useful to anyone else, you need a T8 driver. Simon

Am i reading it correct that the B7 already had a wire from the cluster to the footwell? therefore you just connected a repair loom from the washer sensor to that?
