RETRO FITTING DIS AND CRUISE ON A4 B6

Ok, I'm still having problems Vagging into my instrument cluster module. (see my previous post in last page)

Has anyone installed the Washer Level Sensor before adding the trip computer coding to the car? All the posts I see, the coding is done before installing the washer sensor. I installed the sensor and now I can't get into the module so here is what my friend thinks: the module is getting data it doesn't recognize so it is getting confused by it and doesn't know what to do with it. So it is kicking us out of there before we can enable the trip computer functionality. Is this possible?

I will try to remove the ground connection from the sensor tomorrow to see if it will let me in to code and then connect it again. If anyone has any ideas they are more than welcome.

Hi,

I've just purchased a 2005 A4 S-Line 2.0 TDI (no MFSW) and it doesn't have much in the way of extras. I'm specifically after cruise control and wouldn't mind a trip computer with MPG, average speed, etc (currently just shows radio info and distance to empty). I've found a few useful posts so know it can be done, but most of the posts were old and not sure if the members who could help out (on the coding side) are still around.

Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what need so could someone confirm and perhaps let me know where I can get the parts, if not from the dealer.

For Cruise Control, I'm assuming I just need:

1.control stalk

2.lower cowling

3.someone who can recode the ECU

Does anyone know how much Audi will charge for this?

For the trip computer, does the whole cluster need changing? or will I just need a wiper stalk with the buttons on the end?

Any ideas on cost for this would be really useful. Thanks!

Ben

If you don't have a multi function wheel then you'll need to change the steering wheel control module too which isn't cheap.

Audi would charge a fortune, no idea how much. That's if they'd even bother.

For DIS the cluster does not need changing. Just the stalk and one wire to the instrument cluster.

If you wanted this doing or would like a quote, please give me a call or send me an email - you can find the details on Shark Performance - Volkswagen Audi Seat and Skoda Tuning

No, my nav system is an RNS-E.

I unplugged the ground in the washer sensor and was then able to get into the cluster with no problems. I don't know what it was, but the sensor was fking it up. Now she's all coded and good to go. Thanks for the help shark. Though it is weird how that happened....

I've been informed by my friendly Audi parts man that the SCM currently in my car is a 8E0 953 549 N, which from reading previous posts makes me believe that it should be compatible with cruise... can anyone confirm?

Is it likely that their computer may be wrong? I'm due in for some minor work next week, so I'll get them to check the part number when the car's plugged in if I remember, just to make sure.

Also, I was told that the cruise stalk part number that I'd given him (from a previous post in this thread) might be wrong, as it began with 4E0, rather than 8E0. Is this true? The 8E0 item cost about £8 more IIRC.

I had the car in at the dealers today for some minor work, and asked them to check the part no. of the SCM while it was in. They said that they tried, but that they were unable to check the part number, as apparently on their system you have to actually attempt to change a setting in order to get the part number... Doesn't sound totally right to me, but can anyone confirm/deny this?

Anyway, the parts guy, who's been nothing but helpful, got in touch with Audi Technical HQ and they came back and assured him that I have the correct module for cruise. So fingers crossed when I come to actually order & fit the parts I don't find out that I need a new SCM!!

I installed used, (but 100% working) steering wheel model N-version with CC stalk to Audi A4 B6 2003 TDI. I coded a lot of times according the instruction described in this thread (I found similar instructions on another forums too, even in Spanish), but…. CC doesn’t work. I haven’t got any errors, just can’t to proceed the adaptation of channel 081 for VIN learning. PIN code is requested every time. Can I setup my VIN to this channel 081 with Vag-Com 805 or have I go to some authorized workshop, who is using VAS5xxx?

Hi guys hope you can help ,I have just fitted the cruise stalk and lower shroud to my 2005 sline 2.0 tdi i already have dis as an option.

I have come across a problem when trying to code the steering wheel control module with vag com. I believe this is due to me having a S module fitted(is this correct) if so what model should i be looking for to fit to a B7 and where is the best place to get hold of one of these? please dont say audi stealer

Shark_90's one of the experts on this, and from this quote in an earlier post, it sounds like the S module will not work.

...I'm sure you need N, P, R or Q.

Now and again the modules appear on ebay, either on their own, or as part of a full steering column for sale, the rest of which you could then sell on afterwards. It's always worth asking the seller what the part number is of the module they're selling.

Local breakers/salvage yards may often have them in, or websites like breakeryard.com + others will take a description/part number of what you want, and a load of national breakers will then email you with quotes.

Otherwise, they're circa £100 from the stealers.

Hello all!

I'm new to this forum and bought my first Audi about a month ago.

I have cruise control so I guess the only thing I have to do to get the full trip computer is to wiper lever and recode with the Vag-Com that I have.

However after reading through the whole thread I am still unsure if I need to remove the wheel and which setting to recode.

I have just managed to get my retrofit RNS-E to show navi info in the DIS, but I wonder if its possible to recode to see scrolling text of mp3 names in the DIS.

Welcome to TSN

Yes you do need to remove the wheel. You need to change the adaptation value in channel 19 of your instrument cluster (17) to x10xx from memory.

As far as I know there is no way to make the track names scroll on the DIS with tracks played from the RNS-E. The only equipment I know that does that is the Dension Gateway 100/300 with an iPod or USB hard disc/pen drive.

It isn't - in their "infinite wisdom" Audi chose not to scroll the track names.

Hence why I use playlists so that I can choose what the 8 characters are, and make them more meaningful than just the first 8 characters of the filename.
