M7R
after about 6 months of having the stalk sat on the side i have finally done this!!! but I have the tyre pressure light blinking on and off randomly  any ideas? also the engine sound a bit knocky at idle... could this just be because the battery is off and it running in learning mode? I havent fitted the washer level yet, I will be doing that soon-sh and for now I just plan to ground out the plug in the pass foot well, cheers Karl. jamieg
Hi I've recently purchase a 57 plate A4 but would really like DIS fitting, anyone interested in fitting this please? I'm in Huddersfield but willing to travel, the car is an 8EC. I currently don't have any parts for this job.
G60jet
I finally got my windscreen bottle sensor fitted at the weekend. Not hard to do, but just a paid having to take the bottem half of the bottle out. just need to pull the wire across to the drivers side now, as i've done the passenger side bit. nexus446
Hi all, sorry to crash this thread but it seems relevant to my problem? I have a 2002 A4 B6 3.0 V6 petrol quattro that had no DIS or cruise and had a "F" suffix steering column ECU fitted, I have since fitted the relevant DIS stalk and replaced the steering ECU with a USED "S" steering ECU of a B6 A4 with DIS only. I recoded the steering ECU to the correct code for DIS only via VAG COM (full HEX CAN lead) I relearnt the new VIN to the steering ECU via adaption channel 81 (00111) however I assume the ABS ECU stored its coding in the previous steering ECU somehow as I have now lost my ABS coding (faults logged in ABS ECU saying control unit not coded etc) no problem I thought until I tried to recode the ABS controller.... it just will not recode? I have performed login (40168) and it seems to accept that but when I enter the coding screen and enter the new ABS code it does not store it no matter what I try? I consequentially receive ABS Brake warnings in the dash due to this, it wont let me recalibrate the steering angle sender until I can code the ECU so I`m stuck!?? I`m fairly competant with this kind of stuff but I`m thinking its due to trying to adapt a used steering ECU maybe? I have tried via VAG COM and VAS 5051B to code it and same thing happens, havent tried Guided fault finding yet as I have no online connection for SVM function. (for those with VAS knowledge). Also if its relevant when I press the DIS buttons I get no change on screen or in measured values to indicate its receiving input from the stalk for DIS in the new steering ECU only when I pess the reset button on the bottom of the stalk does it do something.... it turns the entire DIS screen OFF! Has anybody else come accross this as I thought this would be a simple retro fit lol. Help please people??
shark_90
It is a simple retrofit using the right parts.. I'm not sure an S suffix module is suitable. No problem using a used module either. If I were you I'd try again with a N, P or R suffix module.
G60jet
Seeing as I have now done my windscreen washer sensor, If anyone wants me to do theirs I'll be happy to fit them for a fee. Service does not include parts, so you'll need to get them yourself. I'll fit the sensor, ground off the wire in the wheel arch and run the cable to the centre consol ready to be pulled into the dash area when ready to turn on the DIS/CC. PM Me if interested. Takes about 90 mins.
Audi32
Hi Shark_90 Thanks for your assistance when I had issues after installing the cruise on my A4. The ESP and ABS lights were showing after coding and calebrating the replaced 'N' suffix steering wheel module. Cruise would not function at all. So i went for a 1 mile drive to see if the lights will disappear,no joy . As advised by you I shorted the clutch switch connection and took the car for a drive again, but this time for 2 miles. The cruise started to work and eventually after 1.5 miles the ESP light turned off and then after 2 miles the ABS light turned off. I stopped the car and started her again. No more ESP or ABS lights and the ESP switch and cruise are working fine Looks like the the steering wheel control unit and the ABS system need to learn each other on some models. Thanks again Ben

stevebootes
Hi all, I've just fitted a new SCSM 'Q' module, cruise stalk and DIS to my 2001/51 A4 2.5TDI QS. I've coded everything fine (DIS now works ok), but I just can't clear the ABS/ESP lights. ABS controller throws the following fault: 01486 - System Function Test Activated 35-00 - - I also don't seem to be able to complete the steering angle sensor recalibration either, at after these stages: Login-40168, Basic Settings-Group 001 - GO! I can't click the GO button in VAG-COM, and the fields say something like "steering angle", "sensor" [is that normal?], though I can see the current angle in measuring blocks-group 005. Any ideas anyone? I heard mention that early B6s need an extra wire (and is part of the cruise kit from Audi?) but I can't find any reference to this. Does anyone know that a Q-revision SCSM will work on my car? Any help appreciated! Steve
paul_tdi
Steve, Welcome to TSN! I am sure shark will be along shortly as he has been a long term resident / GURU of when I started this thread some time ago! Are you using a fully licenced copy of vagcom? Double check your login code as this may be the stumbling block. When we did my A4 no extra wires were needed so you should be ok. Where abouts are you located? stevebootes
Thanks, but I've managed to sort it, it turns out there is a procedure to clear this fault code - see ESP System Function Test (Bosch) - Ross-Tech Wiki, which basically involves stamping on the brake pedal hard, and driving in circles. Hopefully this may help somewhere here with the same problem. In addition I've also found a faulty clutch pedal switch which was obviously stopping the cruise activating. Thanks to everyone on here for documenting this retrofit on this thread.

tough
Hi Shark, I have made the retro fitting done. Thank you so much for your help. Everything worked just fine except the headlight washer. It stoped working. Do you have any idea of that? Cheers,
shark_90
Hi tough. Did you retrofit cruise or DIS or both? I will try to do some research about the headlight washers for you.
tough
Hi Shark, I changed the module to 'Q' and installed the cruise stalk. The car has the DIS function originally. I have not use headlight washer for a long while. I am not 100% sure that changing the module is the reason.
dickys3
I am planning on installing cruise on my B7 A4 soon, but don't have access to vagcom at the moment. I read somewhere that once you have fitted the stalk and refitted the steering wheel, it needs recallibrating with vagcom. Am I safe to install the stalk and then recallibrate and enable cruise at a later date? Or should I be looking to do this at the same time of fitting? Cheers Rich. shark_90
Rich, do you have a multi function wheel? If so then no problem coding at a later date.
