Thinking of getting one of these as well:

Interesting. Where would one find one of those?

Mamas and Papas.

I didn't know Audi did OEM shades for the side windows - anyone got a pic? I'd prefer something OEM that maybe 'blends in' a little better.

It makes me chuckle in a way, on the TT forum I'd be chatting about the joys of Milltek exhausts. Here I am now talking about sunshades for the little bundle.

C'est la vie! smirk.gif

Here's a link to the audi dealer / self retrofit shades. As I said - I got them for an A6 and they didn't work very well (two sets wouldn't stay clipped on to top of door frame / 3rd set broke) though to be fair that was just the A6 and Audi UK did say for the A6 they had amended the clip.

They sit on top of the door trim ( requires holes to be drilled in door trim!!).

Here's a link to clairparts in the US just for the image. They ship ..but you can buy them direct from your dealer in the UK.

Here's an alternative product. Their a custom fit shade for doors / rear side windows and boot. I've seen similar from this company ..but they don't have anything for Audi yet.

This link from Kamei seems to suggest they have kits for Audis - but I can't find a price direct on their website

(though froogle turns up £99.99 which if for the entire car is not too bad..but if thats just for doors then I'll stick with my 2 Euro shades for now)

Nelson, your level of services is A1, blinds arrived yesterday mnorning.

Regarding fitting, little daunted with prospect of drilling holes at first but took my time on the first one.

The blind housing has two pins on the underside that push into two locating clamps that are drilled (3mm pilot and 8.5mm final) and inserted into the top of the door pannel. Then there are two clips that hold the blind when in use that you offer up to the top of the door frame, these have sticky pads that help you to get them in the right place to start with before releasing the blind and then you drill a 2mm hole through the clips hole then a self tapping screw is used to provide a secure hold for the clip.

The only thing a bit faffy is getting the fixing pins to go fully in to the plastic clamps as they are pretty tight.

The instructiosn with them are very good and easy to follow. the end result is not as nifty as the factory fit ones but I think heaps better than any of the ones with plastic suckers, that seem to never be quite the right shape or size.

Will post some photos, is someone can tell me how to use the forum gallery confused.gif

The correct sun shades may seem expensive but they could actually save you a few bob.

Yesterday, a friend of mine who has an A4 2.5 TDI, accidently lowered the wrong electric window with one of those blinds with the suckers attached. One of the suckers has got stuck inside the workings of the window. Now the window won't go up or down and it looks to me if the seals aound the window have been distorted and may have to be replaced. Will require a trip to the dealer and won't be cheap.

You have been warned...

Yikes - me too! blush.gif.

I'm sure you did a great job and I bet they look fab!

There should be an OEM shade for the A4 Saloon that I could pick up and have fitted at the stealers. That I should have to start drilling holes seems crazy for a premium badge.

The ones listed on Vagparts are for the A2/A6 confused.gif
