Nelson_R32
Anyone ever had any Gremlins in their A4's yet? I've had three; 1) At -4.5*C, the Radio refused to recognise the car had an internal and external CD Changer. Didn't work again til I stopped and restarted ignition 2) Cruise Control stopped working after i'd turned it off (I'd constantly been using it on/off for the last 10 miles). Again a restart of the car sorted the problem 3) Last Saturday; I started the car to leave work (temp was 24*c outside) and although the Climate control was on 20*c AUTO. The fan speed stayed on 1 bar unless I adjusted it manually. WHen I turned Auto back on, it dropped back down to 1 straight away!! Again, a restart of the car cured the problem!! Anyone else had problems like this? I guess I could fault the first two problems to myself because both the 6CD Autochanger and Cruise were retrofitted by myself

Nelson_R32
[ QUOTE ] Where did you say you worked again? BUB [/ QUOTE ] Ahhhh...but I still parted with £20k of my hard-earned. So I'm still a normal customer I can accept that cars will have their little electrical spasms. Its actually going in for its first Warranty bits tomorrow. Sqeaking suspension arm and some loose clips in the bootlid. Thats a drop in the Ocean compared to other cars I've had
UBM
Blimey Nelson! Nope, no Gremlins on this one - yet, except for the magic dust fairy who seems to come out every night spoiling my cleaning efforts....
Nelson_R32
I have done 9000 miles in six months so I guess my problems be in shorter intervals if you know what I mean All part of the fun! TBH, I think problem 3 is an early sign of a failing thrust sensor on the Air Con rad, but we shall see

UBM
I must admit, the more I get to drive mine and the more miles it does, the better it feels. It seems more than quick enough for me. It certainly gets thrown about more than the cab ever did and seems to have a speedo which must read at least 30mph too fast....

That’s why I bought my A4. Mind you after reading some of the customer service horror stories on here I’m hoping it stays in one piece! BUB [/ QUOTE ] Very true, the reason I bought an Audi was because I knew I was more responsible for it. E.G. If I need parts, I can look them up within five minutes. If a fault appears, I can have it booked in same/next day. If it breaks down, I can get a car replacement same day and I can follow, even watch, its repair process Compare that with the problems I had with my Ibiza Cupra..... markkieras
Just sold my A3 and had similar problems with the cruise control. It would work for a number of miles then turn off on its own, and as you say, you cannot re-activate it without a restart. The embarrassing think was, when I took it to the dealership they could never find the problem, as it always worked after a restart. They did replace various parts each time, confirming it was fixed, however the problem always came back. After 6 months I finally got them to believe me when I left the car running when the fault appeared so they could run a diagnostics check. Apparently the result of this was that the cruise control required a firmware upgrade, and Audi UK would call the car back when the firmware had been written.....Of course this never happened, hence I part-exchanged the car back to the garage and brought an A4-less cruise control.
