I think it might be part of an upgrade pack, thats spec'd when ordered. but im sure someone with a New A3 might be able to enlighten you.

Perhaps you could add your cars to your profile, as most people havent a clue what car you have, unless they have seen your previous post about lightbulbs, wheer it was mentioned.

This forum has: Older A3,S3 and the Newer A3 models, so just "A3" can be a little confusing and may explain lack of replies. 169144-ok.gif

The 12v socket in the boot is part of the Luggage Pack. I ordered my A3 with this option mainly to get the 12v socket. I know a similar socket can be purchased from vagparts. This would obviously mean fitting and wiring it yourself.

I am thinking of getting the socket from Vagparts but don't really want to run a wire all the way from the fuse box. I'm going to see, when I get chance, if the wiring loom is in place already for the socket - anyone know what colour wires I am looking for?

No sure about the 12v in the boot, but the wiring to the 12v socket/cigarette light is 1.5mm Red/Black. I recently fitted a GPS receiver to the underside of the centre armrest and ran the power wire through the centre tunnel to connect to the 12v/cigarette lighter socket and that was quite straight forward. There may be existing wiring behind the Right hand side (as you look into the boot)panel of the boot as that is where the boot 12v socket is located on my A3.
