tomo10
Finally my car is here. Got it yesterday, 06 plate GT TDI 4motion, 3dr, Diamond Black, Grand Prix alloys and RCD 500 (I think! The in dash changer anyway!). I've only done about 50 miles in it so far but have to say.....I love it! Only down sides so far are the brakes could do with more feel and be a bit sharper but I guess they have only done 93 miles so should improve. The steering is a bit lighter and less communicative than my Focus but it doesn’t tramline like that did so it’s a fair compromise. Just want to get out there and put some miles on it. Rustynuts
Which engine did you get?
tomo10
Its the 140ps. Shame its a company car as revo would be a serious opytion! Would the trial be a problem or a calculated risk?
Rustynuts
Company cars are a tricky one as they generally have final say in what goes on. However, if you control your own insurance, then I'd think that'd be the biggest issue to sort, but if the company control it, then yer fooked I should think. Shame about not being the 170. tomo10
Yeah, the company look after it and i suppose its not worth the risk. Yeah, it was a case of waiting ages and seeing what car band the 170 would fall into or get a car quickly.
bamber
If it is the 4Motion you specifically wanted it is not available in the 170 diesel. They have also withdrawn it from the 140 range now.
tomo10
The way it was explained to me was that you will still be able to get the 140ps engine with 4motion but it will be a sport rather than a gt....less kit than the GT but more than the current sport model. Sparticus
Nearly 4k miles in mine now, has used about half a litre of oil and I get 45-50 mpg on a run sticking at 80 mph with the cruise on. Engine is loosening up, very noticeable mid range when overtaking, quite a Q car. Do like the seats as well, very comfortable. I added the 17 inch alloys as well, glad I did, suits the shape much better and sets it apart from the standard GT TDi. Only regret is not adding Leather, would have made the cabin feel a little more classy, but I think that was a £1500 option, OUCH. Do like the look of the GTi though, maybe that will be my next move if I can learn to live without the 4motion. Enjoy it, let us know how you feel about the car a few weeks in. tomo10
Agreed, I'm not a fan of the standard GT alloys myself but do like the 17's, money well spent. Just enjoying the drive and trying to learn to use the gears properly to avoid turbo lag.
