Hudson
Hi, I have an oil leak on my 1999 A6 2.8 Quattro, it is engine oil and is dropping around the front of the car (drivers side), Are there any common probs on my car where the seals etc go. It's mileage is just below 68k. Cheers.
Edd_W
Quite a few odds and ends but usually near the back of the engine. The cam adjuster seals leak but usually only badly if the crankcase breather is blocked. I would guess it is actually leaking from the oil cooler/filter assembly on the passenger side but the running across on the belly-pan and then dripping on the drivers side. If it is the cooler seals they are easy to replace.
citizen
Recently had mine serviced and I was complaining it was a bit oil hungry. Turned out nothing more than the oil filter was not on tight enough which cause a little leak on regular runs and also a few drops on the driveway after returning home each time. One "problem" is I park another car there from time to time which is more likely to drop oil and so I didn't put two and two together. I put a new filter on (tightly) and both issues seem to have disappeared....
Hudson
I removed the belly pan a little while ago and i have been able to get under the car and check the filter which is ok.
