I had kept these but they've been lost in moving house. What are the washing instructions for a water magnet as mine is a little grubby at present and it starting to leave dirty streaks on the paintwork.

Much appreciated. 169144-ok.gif

When I first had my Meg's WM I made the mistake of wiping my wheels (after I had cleaned the car bodywork) and it ended up with heavy black streaking. A 60 degree heavily soiled washing machine prog sorted it. Usually I bung both WM and Meg's Lambswool Mitt in at 30 degrees after every use.

Could try a MF rejuvenater 169144-ok.gif

I've wondered about this stuff, but the price puts me off. Does it actually offer anything more than normal washing powder?

I've used specialist cleaning solutions for various clothing, but then a Gore-Tex jacket costs a little more than a MF towel. smirk.gif

Robin,

Now that you have the 18"s you have and easier job keeping them clean? I give them a good cleaning using an older wash mit and then a quick dry off with a M/F and they come up like new - like you say, no major dirt on the mit and M/F that a 30 degree wash won't sort 169144-ok.gif

Cheers, Paddy - Following cleaning expert John Carter's advice I have now invested in a Meg's long handled (detachable) alloys brush. Like every Meg's product I have tried so far, it's magic!

Robin,

Its funny you bring up the long handled Megs wheel brush... its a sore subject with me at present. Was our driving some backroads last Friday in baking sunshine and seems road tar had melted bad and actually splashed all along underneath side skirt on our Volvo - anyway, I use the Megs long handled brush to clean the under skirts too but when I hit the tar and gunk it wrecked the brush, so I tried all things to clea but no luck so eventually boiled the kettle and threw it in on top of the brush - 1 hour later, I had half a brush - 100 degress of boiled water shrunk the nylon bristles to nearly nothing.

So.. its off out to get another one, cause as you say they are very good 169144-ok.gif

Long story over grin.gif

Paddy

What you say, Paddy ? - You're sore from the long handled brush ?!! grin.gif

I only use mine for its intended purpose! - That is for my alloys. But I would suggest you have a chat with Meguiar's about what's happened....You probably won't get a replacement but you may find them helpful with info. They will certainly value your feedback on their products.

I saved the long handle so no problems there grin.gif

Thought about heading back up to Halfrauds with it to chance my arm but would be wasting my time. I actually just use an old mitt and the Meg's ultra safe wheel brush on the 18"s - if you treat and clean them enough then there is no massive build up of crap on them.

Going slightly off topic here - I have both the long handled wheel brush and the short handled tyre brush. I'm very impressed with the tyre brush. It's got black, hard bristles on the inside to scrub the grime from the tyres; but softer, yellow brushes on the outer edge to avoid scratching the wheel.

The wheel brush is ok, but I find it doesn't hold the soap suds for long enough.

i find it doesnt hold the suds for long too....but with the amount of brake dust they take off....i dont think anything would.....plus ....i always end up with black spots all over me.....i end up looking worse than the wheels did....but.....you gotto take the rough with the smooth eh

Hey Robin,

On your hunch I went back to Halfords with my Meg's wheel brush and explained that I had left it soaking for a few days to clean it and that it shrank... hey presto, they gave me a credit for it so I picked up another triple pack of the Meg's supreme shine M/F's as the brush was out of stock 169144-ok.gif

All microfibre products should be washed independently of other fabrics as they do a great job of attracting fibres from other fabrics which clog them up. It's safe to use 60deg wash, advisedly with an extra rinse cycle. Use a liquid detergent (no powder), deffo no fabric conditioner. Line dry if possible or low heat/cool in tumble dryer.

MF rejuvenator doesn't seem to perform any better than a liquid detergent

I posted not so long back about my brand new Chamois going green spotted with Mildew. Have washed it twice and no joy. Bought a Water Magent from Halfords since but not yet used it.

Was going to take the hit on it but thought I would try and get a refund now based on the info above. Just rang Halfords to see what they say and they want to take a look at it as a Warranty issue! grin.gif

Going to take a spin over there tonight. Fingers crossed they should refund or swap it for something else in the range maybe? Based on the fact that I bought a Water Magnet in the meantime. Will post with my results smile.gif

Well Halfrauds have redeemed themselves again today it seems!

Replaced my Chamois no problem. Would not allow another product though instead based on the fact that I bought a Magnet from them in the mean time but, nevermind, at least I can try out both now.

They told me to leave the Chamois damp in a plastic bag to avoid that happening again!

Strange thing is...that is how it happened in the first place!
