ACShnitzer
I've owned a 1997 E39 528 for about 2 years... recently I had a run of electrical faults that included rhandom alarm activation for no apparent reason... The stealers diagnosed a fault on my general control module, with a heafty price tag to fix it... taking a cheaper route I had a new G-C-M fitted... That cured all the other faults except my alarm still seems to have a mind of its own and usually at 3:30am much to my neighbours dismay !! Has anyone had similar problems or suggest possible lines of investigation.... Any insight welcome. Cheers

Mo-S3
When its ecu is checked for DTC's what is the cause of the alarm? Door sensor? interior sensor? None at all.... maybe the new module that was fitted is faulty as well?
AGI
I've never faced a situation as such for which the GM was at fault. Anyways, to isolate the faulty area, lock the car and wait for about 30 seconds, make it 45 to stay on the safe side. You then will have to jack the car up, this will let us know is your tilt sensor is working correctly. If yes, the siren will go off. The next test will be door contacts. That is, all doors and the trunk. Does the car indicate it when they are opened? This helps us through the contacts! Now, does your car have an ultrasonic interior sensor? Let me know about this and also the result of the test(s).
