Slower than a Carrera GT then tongue.gif

Although undoubtably the Veyron driver probably had an easier time of it.

[/ QUOTE ]

grin.gif but the Carrera GT probably had a god like Walter Rohrl at the wheel 169144-ok.gif

grin.gif and as said many times before - the Veyron is not a racing car jump.gif

Fantastic time no doubt. But its still ugly and vulgar! the_finger.gif

I fully appreciate why people like it though. I just don't want it to get compared with cars which are infidently cooler and more fun...

At last, someone who thinks about the Bugatti like I do. It is an engineering marvel, not the most aesthetically pleasing granted but that wasn't really the idea. Lots of people complain about cars being form over function, this is exactly the opposite and I would love just to even sit in one and blip the throttle, doesn't have to be a drive as I know realistically i'll never be able to afford one.

The other thing that people miss about the Bugatti is that, I dont believe any other company, or group of engineers and designers, could have achieved what the Volkswagen group have achieved with the Veyron.

However, if they had wanted to Volkswagen could have so easily produced a 600hp 1200kg car. They chose not to as it would have been to easy.

Exactly. Theres a special edition corvette that does nearly the same speed as the Veyron, its just a standard corvette, with a huge turbo/supercharger (cant remember which). Hardly the technical tour-du-force that is known as Veyron.

Bazza, I thought blue was the classic Bugatti colour?

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe that back in those original Bugatti days, that particular blue was the French racing colour.

As a teenager, we found an original Type 35 Bugatti rotting in a garage at the bottom of someone's garden but the owner wouldn't sell.

You can add me to that cliche Woppum. As an engineer the Veyron is an engineering masterpiece. Not the best looking but still a masterpeice. Its complexity and technology makes my S4 and your CSL resemble a mini metro.... 169144-ok.gif When VW set out on the project they did not want to make the most attractive car they wantedo t make an engineering statement. The Veyron certianly does that.

Yes im certainly not disputing the fact it is an engineering masterpiece. It is, and a fantastic achievement at that considering how much development it ha needed. It just aggravates me (as it seems I am a very pedantic bloke when it comes to cars) that it gets compared to a Mclaren F1 for example just because of the top speed. They are totally different, are aimed at different people (yet many as said will be the same customers) and are made to do a different job. When reading reviews, every single one seems to compare it to the Macca. It just shouldn’t be, its a totally different occasion if you ask me...

And why do I hate it so much...

Well I dont like the diamonds. I don’t like the statement it makes (most expensive, most powerful and therefore the best!). And, like the Phantom, a good majority of the people that will buy it will buy it for the wrong reasons (last point I made). I know not all will. Some will simply love the car, and it could be considered the best most fun every day car.. This is the ultimate rapper car. No doubt snoopy and shag dog will all get them with 100” wheels. The kids will love it and the traditional supercar will be lost under a cloud of bling…

Now if Bugatti made a new Royal to rival cars like the Phantom and the bach that would be fantastic. There is a true gap in the market here for a car with both presence, space and all the luxuries... Also as it will be a big car, they wont have to try and squash 2 tones in to a playdough blob and may be able to come with something rather dash...

Bugatti, you now have the engine, the brand and the technology form you bother companies to make the best luxury car in the world. Now get of your backside and lets make this interesting... 169144-ok.gif
