Dave
5.7 seconds is the same as the S8, slower than a honda s2000, slower than a volvo s60R etc etc
DHA
I think people should look at the S3 and the A3 in the flesh rather than in photos. If you look at photos of the old S3 in some colours it does not look as obviously different from the A3.

Andrew
I think it looks great and could be just what I'm looking for in a couple of year's time to move to from my LCR, unless the new M3 is released and within my budget sights!! I love the interior especially.

robin09
[ QUOTE ] http://www.worldcarfans.com/spyphotos.cf...udi-s3-revealed the link above contains the first spy pics, which are identical to the finished car except for painted from bumper and 18" wheels. Just looks like any other A3, you gotta admit. Just shows you how little they changed. [/ QUOTE ] I agree, an A3 with the 3.2 V6 AND S-Line kit would look and perform very similar. What extra does the 'S' give you? Shouldn't have used the 3.2 engine IMO, just muddles the range.
NewNiceMrMe
Well I think that looks quite nice, especially the interior. Whether it looks and sounds like £27,000 nice, especially as you can assured it'll be £30,000 by the time you've added any reasonable amount of options, well I'm not so sure. It's not in a sector that appeals to me anyway, I know, but I can see current S3 owners being very drawn to it.

billy2shots
Whats all the fuss about not useing the 3.2. Most opinions on the A3 3.2 and Golf R32 suggest the extra weight ruins the handling. I think Audi have done well useing a 265bhp 2litre whilst keeping weight down.
Mollox
The round steering wheel boss I strongly approve of though
patently
Looks great, especially the interior. I'd very much like to try one out. But I have better ways of spending the £30k than on a 3 door hatch. Sorry. And if I'm spending that kind of money, I (frankly) can't be bothered to put up with the endless stream of hassle that is Audi sales.
Torino101
I am very disapointed with both the choice of engine and the power output. Apart from improved handling there is not enough of a justification to buy this over the 3.
david_d
I don't get the fuss over the interior either? It looks the same as my A3 S-line except that it has a flat bottom steering wheel and white stitching.
Woppum
Well it looks fine, but not breathtaking. It certainly doesnt excite me as the first pics of the Mk4 R32. And I too was hoping for a deeper bark and more power... 350bhp seems like a nice figre for a car like that in this day and age..
S3Bangs
Strangely enough, I kind of like the look of it, even though I've never been a fan of the new A3 its growing on me. However, I won't be rushing out to buy one. I need to see it in the flesh and have a drive first. On my previous S3, I hadn't ever driven one before I bought mine. I just loved it and still do even though I've sold it on. On The day I paid for it and picked it up was the first time I'd actually ever driven one. Somehow this doesn't give me the same thrill but I think it's nice nonetheless.
robin09
Well I'm surprised theres only a few of us who aren't impressed. Hopefully the fact that its only 265bhp means that Audi are leaving plenty of room for the RS.......?
david_d
Over on the fourtitude forums the yanks LOVE IT. I think current S3 owners might be tempted, but current 8P owners like me it's kinda hard to justify the cost for the extra performance considering the car looks basically the same as an S-Line. You could even say it doesn't look quite as good as an 8P with a Votex kit.
Wallachie
Coming back and looking at the pics today, I think it actually looks better to me than it did yesterday. Still, not sure I could part with over £30k for it when I could have a CSL for similar money.
DanG
Do we know if this is Haldex or Torsion anyone?? So presumably and bearing in mind the available engines and R&D done on the R32, that a RS3 could be a v6?
billy2shots
Looks good. Doesnt look good. All in the eye of the beerholder... Whats for sure is that we will have to wait a while to find out what its like to drive. It is no surprise that current A3 owners dont think it is that different to theirs. What you have to remember is that a Merc S320 and S500 may look the same, the fact is they drive way different. The S3 is one model in the A3 line-up, it has to be similar. Were people expecting a sleek coupe?

[/ QUOTE ] That's my point. A 4 cylinder engine (even an Alfa one) will not sound like £27K's worth. In that price range it needs a highly tuned V6. IMHO What happened about the 3.6 V6 that was mentioned as going into the Touraeg/Pheaton etc. (but not the Cayenne!)
Calm Chris
[ QUOTE ] Over on the fourtitude forums the yanks LOVE IT. [/ QUOTE ] Bet in USD costs, it comes in at about £22k for them I'm sure we'd all love it, if it was that sort of money here in rip off UK . But it's not. No doubt leather and Xenons will be extras, add in sat Nav, a sunroof and RS4 wheels (if an option and not OEM) and that's £34k with no discounting for the 1st year of order cycle- That's way too much. Then again a high spec'd MkV R32 is £30k, and it will be a better car . Way I see it, £18k buys a weekend toy (Z3M or S2000 say) and plenty of change for a lesser sized hatch for the week. A better use of £34k for me
DanG
In a years time you can probably get a 335i for £34k.... Food for thought.....
