Ari
I'm thinking end of September. Then out for six months and launch beginning of April. I know there are really good days in winter, but in reality there's a lot of bad days when it's being tossed about on the berth and I've had a cracking summer out of it so I'd rather draw a line under it and pull her out and know she's safe. I might even get a full overall cover that wraps around and down to the waterline for when she's out. My father has one for his boat and it works well. scooby_simon
Ari, Just make sure you get the hull very clean first. Anything left behind under the cover will just act as wet+dry paper all winter - not good !

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks Hector but I don't think it was a standard Monterey option, I would probably have to have one custom made.

I thought though that maybe I could get plenty of mutton cloth or something to go between the cover and the boat where it touches. My other concern is condensation or dampness under the cover. Dave
Can you not get gortex type covers that breathe?
Ari
Never seen any. Probably very expensive...
Dave
I expect they are, but i would be much happer knowing that condensation was going to run my instrument panel. Might also be an oppertunity for you there!
Cupramax
Just sold ours so no winterisation to worry about! Going to be on the lookout for something a bit bigger in the new year for next season...

Ari
Is that additional bathing platform standard? If it is then it looks to me like a 21ft boat that they've bolted a lump of fibreglass to in order to call it a 23 and price it higher. If you look at the hull it's already got a bathing platform and then it's got that additional one.
Ari
Monterey do exactly the same, this is the 228, it's basically the same boat as mine but a different cockpit layout and that lump of fibreglass bolted on the back. And they charge about £10K more for it.
Cupramax
No, the bathing platform isn't standard but we wouldn't get one without, most seem to have it as its only £300 extra, it makes it 26'8 total. The normal hull is 23ft. We've tested a couple and they really are a cracking day boat...
Ari
Fair enough. Just really annoys me when manufacturers bang a lump of fibreglass on the back, change the badge on the side, and charge £10K more.
Cupramax
Lol, not like any of the big manufacturers would do that eh

scrob
We usually have ours in the water from the beginning of May until end of September on a mooring in Dunfanaghy harbour, Co Donegal. Then its back into the shed for fresh anti fouling and some tlc!
