hixster
Do they work or what? Don't tell me you have to pay extra cash for them to work, ie they're not some feature of a luxury pack?? Mine are there , but don't light up.. I had em on my old 4 mo as standard and i'm surprised if they're not standard kit on the .:R .. or am I missing something, a configuration option or something? RedRobin
Puddle lights are set into the wing mirrors and come on when remotely unlocking the car.
hixster
Nope, they're in the doors , i had puddle lights on my mark 4 and that didn't have any lights in the mirrors, They are in the base of the door and are so called because they would light up a puddle from the underneath the door. As per this spec toureg spec Puddle lights in all doors (V10 TDI only) Although i have heard some people call the mirror lights , puddles, i guess it could mean any down poniting light

R32Geordie
Yep you're right, 2001 Audi S3 has them and they lit up the path/road when emerging from the car very nicely. Now in the R32 nowt.... but you can adjust the brightness of the footwell lights from the hi-line console

Roy32
I even had puddle lights on my 1.6 Golf match, I cant beleive they have left these out on the flagship golf.
Tarmac_Terrorist
I'm a bit confused - The so called 'puddle lighting' according to the brochure is set in the bottom of the wing mirrors on the mkv. I've got the lux pack on mine but no light in the bottom of the doors?
petsy
the no light issue was another cost cutting measure by VW.

Snoopy
Just to clear it up, I know what the mk4 guys are on about. the little lights in the bottom rear of the doors when you open the doors up ie puddle lights. On the MK5 the things in the bottom of the doors are simply reflectors not lights. 'Puddle lights' on the mk5 are extra part of the lux pack and are little lights fitted to the bottom of the door mirrors. imho not as good an idea as the mk4s version. SMB
In practice the door mirror version appears to be brighter, than the old style, I find
