Hi everyone! My A3 quattro is due a service, haldex oil and filter and also needs a new front roll bar. Got a quote from a local skoda dealer (Derek Slack) on saturday, £65 + vat for haldex, £190 + vat for 60k service and £220 + vat for new rollbar, bushes and fitting. seems a bit steep if you ask me!

Has anyone on here used Volkswerk in Middlesbrough? I was gonna phone them for a quote but im not sure how good they are! Need some feedback on them first if possible!

Cheers.

I have been taking my cars to Volkswerk for a number of years, first my VW Corrado 16V, then my A4 T Sport although I haven't taken my S3 there yet. I've always found them to be quite good and reasonably price, plus they have a few courtesy cars if you book far enough in advance. The only problems I've ever had/heard about them are as follows:

1.) When doing a service on my A4 they lost my locking wheel nut key, However they where very good about it and organised / paid for a replacement.

2.) When changing the cam belt on my mates 1997 A4 2.6 SE, they didn't change the tensioner and 1 month later it seized snapping the new cam belt and causing about £1000 of damage. Volkswerk would take no responsibility says that it is not mandatory to change the cam belt tensioner, but if you talk to any other garage they will recommend it every time.

A friend of mine has started using a guy on Snowden Road just around the corner from Volkswerk. He is called Steve and has a garage called SP Motors, he is just a one man band but has done a good job on my mates TT and he is much cheaper than Volkswerk, the only disadvantage is he doesn't have the same reputation as Volkswerk so this could have a knock on effect on your service history.

Hope this helps.

What the thinking of getting you Audi serviced at a Skoda dealer. Ive got an A3 1.8T, I rang them to see if they would do it and they said yep, the price was same a local indies and £160 cheaper than Audi !

I asked them about the diagnotics etc and whether that could be done but they werent too sure.

Would like to use my local Skoda garage as they are a lot closer to me than the indy.

Danny, guys, chatting about this very subject with Jennings Seat last weekend and they are also looking to offer the servicing given they are one of the main users of VAG shared powerplants and drivetrains....greatly reduced pricing too!! PM me for details and contact name if you wish.... 169144-ok.gif

Thought about taking it to jennings on the A66 but was a bit unsure due to no SEAT cars (that i know off anyway) having the 4wd haldex stuff! I suppose the service and roll bar is the same though! Will try and call in at the weekend and get a few prices.

Cheers for the help and suggestions guys!

[ QUOTE ]

I just got my S3 60k service, also had haldex done, brake fluid change and rear disks and pads replaced. Total Cost around £669 !

Think the service alone was around 280.00 IIRC.

Sorry for any confusion this was done at a local Audi dealer in Manchester, posted to give an idea of the price and nothing to do with 'volkswerk'.
