Tyres For Passat Estate

Hi Guys,

I'm coming up for some new tyres soon and I wondered if any of you had specific recommendations?

I'm using Michelin Pilot Primacy 205/65 R15 at preset which are good but pricey and only last 25k miles. Is that reasonable mileage for a Passat Estate (4WD)?

Has anybody experience of Pirelli P6 which seem to get a good write-up on TyreTest.com?

Thanks

Chris

I've just gone onto Pilot Primacy 2 (new compound) and currently have 15k miles on them on the front of my Bora. They're slightly noisier than the Bridgestones which came off (at 27k miles) but I've no problems with them up to now.

When you say they're pricey, how much do you mean? 16" ones on mine were £90 a piece fitted.

Ok, small change to this but no consequence to you. A screw through the tread this morning and then out through the sidewall means that I now have 2 new bridgestones on the rear. One from the spare, and the other new. The remaining good tyre has become the spare with about 10k miles left on it according to the fitter. 169144-ok.gif

Just had 4 new Michelin Primacy HP's 205/55/16 V rated with the tyre guarantee thingy for £300 fitted.

Yep, I got the Millennium Star off and its in the garage just in case. Just convenient that mine, the old mans and my bro's car all have the same tyre size.

Checked the Millennium Star receipt - it was 14k miles ago and it still has 6-7mm tread on it. They have now changed the pattern for the new ones which are now called Millennium.

My last were around £80 ea, 2 years ago. They're really good down narrow slippy roads in the wet. Who said Passats don't handle? smile.gif

Has anyone tried P6s? I was looking on MyTyres.

Thanks for responses

Chris
