Managed to get some paint mixed today as I was passing a Halfords on the way to somewhere else. Tomorrow is the big day all being well, not looking forward to taking the bumper off but I don't suppose it will take too long.

I take it you have to remove the trim panels on each side?

Finally completed my parking sensor fit on the Avant today. Took me about 3.5 hours all told, apart from painting. I bought a cheap kit from eBay and am pleased to say it works perfectly. It even included the 21mm hole cutter.

Fitting to the Avant was quite an involved task, needing the rear side trims to be removed in the boot, along with the amp/sub, and sill trim. There were 5 nuts either side holding the bumper on, plus 2 bolts in each wheel arch, removal of mudflaps, and a few bolts underneath where the plastic undertray fixes.

I positioned the control box behind the n/s boot trim panel, along with the beeper - which is perfectly audible from the drivers seat.

Kit cost about £33-34 inc. postage and I probably spent about £16 on plastic primer and the Crystal Blue mixed paint.

Who was the kit manufacturer? and did the instructions say anything about how it might cope with an automatic gearbox.

I've just fitted an audi set to my A4 Cab and now the motherinlaw wants some and i'm not sure what is or is not a good make. She has a Mazda 323.

Mine was a cheapy off eBay, a Cisbo one I think. It works off the reversing light so would work OK on an auto, but I don't think it has a delay (not impt. on mine anyway).

I had to remove the alloy strip (attached to a plastic sill) to get the black plastic side panels out of the way. Maybe you can remove them without, I don't know, but I thought it would make it easier. It only involved undoing 4 bolts.
