More like around 16-21mpg for that car depeding where you drive it.

3.0d will give around 22-28mpg.

The V8 will be pretty much the same on economy as the 3.0i and they tend to be cheaper with more spec as everyone thinks they are alot thirstier, so maybe look at them too.

Haven't a clue on servicing costs, but you will get oil change every 15-18k miles at around £150, then inspection I after the same time followed by another oil service and then inspection II.

BMW servicing on non M cars tends to be pretty resonable compared with say Audi, ring your local dealer and ask as they are all different.

fergy,

are you getting 21mpg from a 3.0i or 3.0d ??

Basically I want a manual, so does that rule out the V8 X5 -was it only available in auto ??

If I get a petrol X5 cheap enough I'm not too bothered about the mpg - but the V8 would be nice.

I have to say that although I am sure the new X5 will be a great car, Im not entirely certain about the front end treatment and the reviews I have read would suggest it isn't "quite" as good as the current car in some areas.

Having said that probably when I drive one next Spring I will like it, particularly when it is available in Sport trim.
