jediknight83
Afternoon everyone... Did this TT a few days ago now. New to owner who wanted its all ready for winter including the hood cleaning and weather proofing. Process: Washed with AG products, Hood cleaned and protected with AG products, SRP, Collinite 476s Few more pics.. This Range Rover was only 4 weeks old and had been superguarded so the owner just wanted it cleaning up. Process: Washed with AG products, Sprayed with AG auto rinse gloss, Dried, Interior cleaned. More before and after pics. Lastly... this Jag XK8 is 2 years old.. also was superguarded at new (what is superguard exactly anyway... a wax?? a sealant?? how long does it last and what should be done to clean, maintain, or rewax??) Process: Washed with AG products, Sprayed with AG auto rinse gloss, Dried, Interior cleaned. Before and after pics.. Nothing too ground breaking as you can see... but the auto gloss rinse does a nice job on the cars even though it doesnt last all that long. cheers Nathan
Johna1
Supergaurd is just a sealant which i dont think requires conserving. I had it on a Sabb once still looked good and beaded well after two years. I once did try using wax on top but it looked cloudy and soon washed off so to say. Autogloss rinse is probs ok on top though. Its very good on top of autoglym waxs. I use it everywash if im not waxing.
steelwind101
Seriously, you should have done the first guy a favour and given the house a quick repaint. Top work though!!

jediknight83
Back at a regulars today to do 2 of his cars. Took some pics of the aston as i gave it a top up of zymol destiny. Unfortunately i started late in the afternoon so it was almost dark by the time i had washed it so no arty outside pics im afraid. Anyway... it still looked nice and shiny before washing so the zymol was obviously working well.. Before.. Wasnt too sure how to pre wash the zymol so i just made a very weak PM3 TFR mix (probably less than 1:20). seemed to do the trick, dirt came off and still beaded up afterwards after shampooing... Dried it all off and applied a fresh layer of zymol destiny, did all the glass and the interior... Afters.. Also gave the Range Rover a regular valet but was too dark and too late to get any decent pics. Maybe nxt time if i get finished in daylight. oh... and i didnt clean it... but look at this engine.... drool.... cheers
flnutt
All looking superb! Might be a silly question but how do you clean the inside of the wheel, do you take off the wheels, or just do it while they are still on the car?
steelwind101
Nice work!! MK5GTi, the way the clean the inside of the wheels is in the picture!! Sparkling mineral water. Its bubbling action helps to agitate the AG wheel cleaner, making a fine action for getting in to all the niggly little bits!! Cats out the bag Jedi....!! richy_uk
I'd always wondered why there were 3-4 empty bottles lying around. Is it too much to ask how you actually use it ?
jediknight83
just shake it up and apply to the car like spraying champaign out of a bottle when you win a grad prix seriously though.... i leave them on the car and use AG wheel cleaner then roll the car back or forwards and do them again. I use a meg wheels brush to get to the inside of the wheel
jediknight83
I was booked in to do a full detail with paint correction on this Corrado VR6 today. The main reason for calling me was the damage on the bumper seen in the pics below caused by a dog trying to fetch a bottle from under the car! After claying the car though i checked out the paint and it was in really good condition so instead of machine polishing the whole car i talked it over with the owner and went with SRP to just bring some shine back. Anyway.. pics and process. Before Wheels cleaned with AG wheel cleaner, Strong TFR mix for body and pressure rinsed, AG Shampoo, then Clay which brought up some dirt but the owner had clayed it a few months back so there wasnt too much. Then the bumper... Started with 106FF = nothing power gloss = some but not much AG 03B = more but still loads left. AG 03B again = still loads left So.. i decided to use some 1200 wet and dry paper. Got it down to a level i was happy with although some of the deeper marks were left. Polished back up with 03B > final finish 106FF So that done... and like i said the car being in good condition it was on with the SRP And then Megs #7 glaze. The light was good at this point so i took some pics. these are before the collinite but it was still looking pretty good at this point. Then 1 layer of collinite 476s before it was dark. Will be going back tomorrow to apply another layer of 476s, do all the rubber and black plastic, glass and the interior, and will get some pics in better light. Nice to be working on a corrado again... brought back fond memories of my old one will update tomorrow. cheers Nathan

jediknight83
was back finishing the VR6 today. did the leather with gliptone liquid leather (full leather cleaning write up to come..) and then gave the car another coat of collinite wax. Finished all the glass in and out and conditioned all the black plastic... then stood back and enjoyed... well after taking some pics. The flash photography doesnt really show these off very well. The seats were in excellent condition but quite dry. The gliptone soon sorted that out though and are now lovely and soft. Then i had to do the secretarys car.. and rest.............and drink Nathan

braywick
Hey Nathan how often would you recommend to clean your car this thoroughly?
jediknight83
depends how anal you are or if you have OCD. i prob do this to my own car every 3-4 months with regular 1-2 weekly washes in between. The wax will last about 6+ plus though so anything more than that would simply be for that added perfecton.
steelwind101
Nathan, I think this is the same car?? Attempt to repair it himself with scratchX. http://www.meguiars.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3988 Geoff
jediknight83
So those of you that are thinking... hey.. hasnt Nathan already posted this car.. well you are forgiven.. because even though i knew it was a different car before i arrived.. it is EXACTLY the same as the owners previous one Well not quite exactly. it has blue leather dash and only 40k miles but apart from that its the same... with one other MASSIVE difference... I haddnt detailed this one and thankfully... it didnt turn out to be anywhere near as difficult as the previous one! So when i arrived it wasnt looking very dirty atall (was serviced and washed last week and garaged since) Pre wash with AG TFR PM3 mix, wheels cleaned then shampoo'd with AG shampoo and conditioner Then every panel was clayed with megs quick clay and as it only brought up minimal dirt i didnt take any pics. Then onto the polishing. After reading DaveKG's thread on the R32 and how he mixed menzerna products i thought id give this a try after 106ff on its own didnt quite remove them all. Polish waiting to be removed from offside wing.. bonet already finished Sunroof done Rear panel before (forgot to take after as i was against the clock.. getting dark) Offside rear wing done Nearside door before.. will take afters tomorrow Offside door before Offside door after Rear bumper before Rear bumper after Some action shots  Then i got lucky and the sun came out :doublesho Then a quick coat of SRP to protect it over night.. Will return tomorrow to glaze and wax and do the finishing touches. Will update this tomorrow. cheers for now. i was very pleased with the results so far.
