bpsmith
Was after some Rain X but no longer available. Anyway, saw the glass stuff in this range in Halfrauds and lloks cool, if a little techincal to apply with the number of bottles to mix, etc. Just interested if anyone has seen these products and/or used them and what they opinion is? They reckon the Paintwork Sealant can last upto 3 years and only requires water from a hose to clean it!?! http://www.tetrosyl.com/index.cfm?page=
Tarmac_Terrorist
Ive only used their alloy wheel sealer. This works really well & I would recommend. Personally I think their glass sealant stuff is overpriced (£10 iirc). The paint sealant sound good but don't believe for a minute that you can clean your car by spraying water on it! Personally, I would get some Autoglym Lifeshine off ebay for about £15 - in the box you get glass sealant, the paintwork gloss sealant & scotchguard type of fabric protector spray...done both of my cars with these kits which dealers normally charge £300 to do - all is really easy to apply
bpsmith
The wheel sealant is a must for me as not really got anythihng of that type that is any good. May also get the fabric spray too. As for washing with a hose only, I am not taken in for a minute on that! No chance that is happening!!! Not really a fan of Lifeshine type products really, but thanks for the info.
Avus_Bub
[ QUOTE ] Was after some Rain X but no longer available [/ QUOTE ] Is this true? I went to both my local branches last week and I know one had it on special with a bottle of glass cleaner and I'm pretty sure it was on the shelf of the other branch too............... I guess there's no harm in stocking up?!! BUB

You can tell I neglected the wheels for a while!!!
bpsmith
Ok, bit the bullet and bought some of the Nanomeric Glass Sealant yesterda and applied it under cover at a mates place. Not brought the car into the open yet but will post results later. Typically, when you want it to rain to see how good the stuff is, what do we get...bloody sunshine!!! First good weather in about a month exactly at the time I need it to rain! lol

bpsmith
I did give it a blast with the bucket and it looks awesome but did not want to post until I have actually driven it in the rain as that is the key to the product performing effectively for me. Will go for a short drive later and see how I get on and post back. Looks promising though. Hoping it will negate the need to sue wip-ers, at all, after the 40 mph mark or so!?! Bloody hate wipers!!! bpsmith
Have now removed the wiper blade and the wiper stalk in the car and got them listed on FleaBay. No need for them anymore! Have just driven the 8 mile trip to work in varying pressure of rain and this stuff definitely rocks! The trip is a mixture of free driving and then plenty of congestion so got a good mix of all round driving really. Honestly did not use the wipers once!!! When stuck in traffic it builds up with very small beads of water all over and then when they are heavy enough they just roll straight off. When driving at speeds of 40 mph plus it just beads off continually up the screen and visibility is cracking. Actually, the heavier the rain the better I reckon as it beads off sooner and clears the screen perfectly. I did flick the wipers once when I parked up at work to see what happened with clearing the small stuff and once cycle of the wiper (A2 has single wiper) and the screen was totally free, whereas previously it would take half a dozen cycles. A bit of motorway driving would be ideal now to test it even more. Heartily recommended from what I have seen so far though!!!
bpsmith
UPDATE: Been nearly 3 months now and still going strong! This stuff definitely rocks!
steelwind101
BPSMITH Sounds like great stuff, do you use any window cleaner on your car after washing?? Do you just wash and dry?? Geoff
bpsmith
Geoff Not really needed to use any glass cleaner at all since tbh. Just the usual mitt and auto bathe that use on the rest of the car. Not sure how it would perform with glass cleaner applied to it but its all academic if not required anyway? steelwind101
Sounds great BPSMITH Right now on my car and the ones at my business i use AG Glass polish but the effects are pretty good but short lived. I might well give this stuff as a try as it could really cut down on the time cleaning the windows. I cant seem to find it on its own, what price did you pay and u do more then one car with a set?? Thanks Geoff
bpsmith
I really rate it tbh and got it on its own in Halfords. It comes in a box with the 3 small throwaway cloths and the glass cleaner also. I mixed the entire mixture as was only small bottles but managed to do all the glass and mirrors twice on the A2 with at least half left over. Would have only mixed half if I had realised. Still got te other half but they reckon to use it all up within 24 hours of mixing, so maybe it has now gone hard possibly? My brother just did his new car with the Nanomeric Sealant. Looks great and beads lovely too so another thunbs up from him too!
Tarmac_Terrorist
I'll have to try this glass stuff. I've used their wheel sealer and found that excellent too - bit pricey though (£9 aerosol iirc)
bpsmith
It is pricey, but if it works the same after 4 months, so far, without any glass cleaner involved in between then it has got to be worth the £20?
bpsmith
Just got back in after doing both cars and had to look this up and post with an update. Was hosiong off the pre-wash and saw just how good the beading of the glass was even after nigh on 5 months now and after completing the wash and dry it still beads off the water perfectly. Defintely going to get some more of this and do the Golf I bought recently as not needed to pay any attention at all to the glass since and dont need to use the wipers whatsoever! A massive thumbs up from me on this one for sure!
