Riz
[ QUOTE ] A'series blocks go on for hundreds of thousands, worry not [/ QUOTE ]Well have its little Mini adventure to the Windsor meet and then to Ilford afterwards.... all in the sameday.... if it was going to go pop.... it would have done it then...... its quite suprising how it keeps it top end speed. Riz [/ QUOTE ] Sadly the idler gears dont though... unless you convert em to straight cut ones. As for em being bullet proof.. I drove my Metro Turbo around for best part of 6 months with a fault waste gate actuator engine was soo tourqey problem was the only thing that was stopping the chambers from pre-detonating was my right foot! Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] Not sure what mpg is does but it`ll be around the 36-40mph mark as a guess... [/ QUOTE ] Depends how you drive it! You certainly won't get that if the stories of you leaving Virginia Water are true! Not a Mini, but I'm getting 26-30 from my flyweight old school hatch of joy. Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] I didnt see any flashes and if they do indeed work when the variable speed limit is not operating then I best be prepared for a ban. Riz. [/ QUOTE ] Your A series must be doing over 5000 rpm at 100mph, a speed which no doubt requires lots of juice. Ian

Mine does 20 mph per 1000 rpm in fifth, and usually a smaller engine means shorter gears, not longer Riz! Our old 1275cc MG Metro was merely a four speed. It had a full factory stainless steel exhaust giving a gorgeous true sound. Like my 205 it wasn't a daily driver, but on rare Motorway journeys it was very boomy, and 70 mph was plenty. Ian [/ QUOTE ]Yup pretty sure... mine has the John Cooper performance kit fitted as standard.... offical spec`s say 36mpg, top speed over 90mph and a 0-62mph time of around 9 seconds. It is the 4 gear version but im pretty sure that the last cooper mini`s had a uprated 4th gear which was taller for the motorway cruising. Ive seen over 115mph+ but the speedo only goes to 110mph.... mmmmm.... it doesnt really bother me as its not for speed or performance..... its for going around corners with a big grin on my face Riz
Ian_C
If yours is a four speeder, there is no way 110 mph is just 5000 rpm. Ian

rhyds
Is that speed from an RA or the speedo in the car? I'd say that mini speedos are about 10% out at least
