RedRobin
Re looking in rear-view mirrors - I'm very bad at doing it often enough. I rely too much on my sub-conscious peripheral vision and just know I'll get caned for it when I do the Drivetrain course.
RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] The nice policeman............told me he only pulled me because i had exited the roundabout at an unsafe speed. [/ QUOTE ] ....What constitutes "unsafe speed to exit a roundabout"!? Doesn't it depend on road conditions, volume of traffic, and, very importantly, the handling performance of your individual car? Are we going to have scameras on roundabout exits next!!? I love having fun on roundabouts! Who amongst us doesn't?
felixthecat1
[ QUOTE ] very importantly, the handling performance of your individual car? [/ QUOTE ] There is an argument for saying it should be the handling and performance of the worst car in your vacinity. At the end of the day, there's no point in having car that can stop in half the distance required by the car behind, as he'll just use your bumper as an additional brake! (This happened to a mate of mine many, many years ago when a 2CV used him as a brake on the motorway) Tian
Rayza
Last night I was travelling on the a34 and did not notice a traffic car behind me for approx 3 miles due to the dimming rear view mirror. Thankfully I was not exceeding the speed limit. I will try and drive with the dimming function switched off, to see if that makes a difference to spotting police cars. garcon magnifique
In terms of braking space, you should always be aware of what is in front and behind you. If the vehicle in front can stop quicker than you, leave more space. If the vehicle behind you will is likely to stop slower than you and it's too close, try not to have to slam on! Golfer
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] So your telling me that me doing 80mph when there is a car coming the other way on a single carageway that is one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the county is safe i think not.
