ahaydock
I have used the search function but cannot find any reference to the Flash Car Wash. I have one of these and do use it every so often and find it does a good job. OK so it is not like a proper wash and polish but then it doesn't claim to be and it only takes me 20 minutes, which is ideal for those times it needs a quick clean but I havn't got time to do the works. What are peoples thought on these?
Sponge
I bought a load of the water filters (going cheap at the time) and often use it for the final rinse, especially if I'm not going to wax the car and therefore can't be arsed to dry it. ahaydock
So wash as per normal then just rinse using the filter? I did wonder what the Flash car shampoo was like. Do you find it works OK?
winrya
i used one for some time. I didnt use the shampoo function, basically i used it to rinse the car off at the end and then used the water filter which was great. In the summer when its hot, i always struggle to get cars dry before they are covered in water marks, using the filter solved this and allowed me to wipe the car dry to a nice finish. ahaydock
How come people do not use the shampoo? Is it not very good (I cant imagine it is TBH)?
winrya
i just prefer to use Meguiars, nice quality, tried and tested! Read a few posts which suggests the flash systems ingredients are very close to washing up liquid

They say the gun should only be used with their unique shampoo and that the Auto-Dry works better in conjunction with their shampoo, but they would, wouldn't they. I did use it a couple of times on my last car and the results were acceptable. However, I haven't used it on the Audi. I'd rather use a shampoo from an automotive company, not from a company that produces kitchen cleaners!

I did use my Zymol once intead of theirs but found it didn't dry properly but I cannot be sure the filter didn't need replacing.
stewarta13wsb
I used it for a while and found it quite good. I'm ashamed to say it, but I was 'scared off' by all the comments from 'serious detailers' that it was like washing up liquid and would strip wax etc., so in the end I went back to my Megs! I'm not sure how much was real factual info and how much was just assumption. After all, they are a huge company - how difficult can it be to produce a decent shampoo? ahaydock
I agree and am concerned it may strip the wax. That is why I am interested to konw whether you can get t he same reulst using another shampoo like megs and just use the autodry filter? I guess once the Flash shampoo has run out you could actually fill up the Flash Gun with whatever shampoo you normally use - sponge and ryan_w is this what you did? Sponge
I did try putting my NXT wash into the Flash Gun, but I went back to the normal bucket method. It was a long time ago and the memory is a bit hazy, but I recall it not really impressing me. It might have been something to do with the amount of detergent it was using - lots. I just preferred the 'normal' method, so I started to use the Flash Auto-Dry on its own, in the Summer, when I couldn't dry the car quickly enough with my 'Water Magnet' to prevent drying marks. (Like others have mentioned above.) On a similar note, I'm tempted by foam guns like this one. But they seem a little expensive to me. Especially as I fear it will still require the use of a washmitt and elbow grease, which sort of defeats the purpose of the foam gun in the first place.
