M20str
Hasn't been for some time even though I've replaced it. One works, other doesn't. I've now to get the bl00dy car MOTed by end of the month. Will this be a fail? Any ideas as to what might be the cause? Fuse maybe, but just for one ? allroadman
There is no definate answer to your question, the testing manual says the plate must light up but, it is down to the tester to decide if one lamp is enough lighting on it, i would think strictly speaking it is a failure. Nelson_R32
If its a B6 chances are that its the Number plate bulb holder itself rather than just the Bulb. The connector 'tabs' have a nasty habit of corroding.
M20str
Is this easy to fix?
Nelson_R32
Depends on whether a) The number plate reflector light screw has corroded b) The Number plate Bulb Holder section has corroded But otherwise its a very easy fix
Scotty
I had the same prob and cleaning the contacts worked about 18months ago. Just before MOT similar prob again so tried again and it didn't work. Turned out I just needed to bend the contact back in a bit and it was fine.
