S3Rob
[ QUOTE ] so where is this 17 odd secs too 100 coming from can we sue auto express for defimation of character?? [/ QUOTE ] No but you may be able to incriminate Volkswagen for ever claiming it is a hot hatch In a twist to the old Rsi argument maybe Volkswagen aren't trying to usurp Audi, just to keep up with them. Sugarj
For the MKIV R32 0-100 Autocar recorded 15.6secs in a non 6463 car and Evo recorded the 16.3 in the wet also in a non 6463 car. 17.8secs for a MKV has to be a fallacy unless it is simply not run in or is a Friday afternoon dog! I'd argue a 6463 MKIV would be every bit as quick as a standard MKV.

Sugarj
Hi OilH, Yes I do drive a 6463 MKIV. The difference before and after the 6463 upgrade was startling to me as an owner. The 6463 gives an extra 10BHP which brings the MKIV up to the same 247BHP as the MKV. If as we have seen Autocar recorded a pre 6463 MKIV at 15.6 then I'm sure a post 6463 MKIV would record at least an Evo magazine MKV rivalling 15.2 0-100. The MKV does have better aerodynamics but the MKIV is a good deal lighter. Both great cars!!
Snoopy
I have noticed time to 100 varie quite abit with mileage. I really wish mags would still state the test miles on the cars when they performance test them.

[/ QUOTE ] Coolio, I doubt if mine is even at 250BHP yet, as its only covered 7700 miles, and it is tight as a snare drum. However it is loosening up nicely, and the fuel economy is getting progressively better and better. I do have a Milltek CAT back fitted and a BMC filter on the way, and these help nicely with throttle response and breathing We should organise a Santa Pod day for all TSN users, to see what is really going on with our cars, or maybe another rolling road day

Mook
I'd value a TG review over any sh*te that Auto Express puts out. Still not sorted out my test drive in the S3. Must get round to it!
Sugarj
Hi again OilH, When I acquired my MKIV it had 12,000 miles and is just now on the brink of 20,000 and the difference is quite noticeable, these bigger engines loosen up with the miles and performance definately increases with milage. In a few thousand miles time your MKV will be flying!! That said when EVO mag rolling road tested the MKV R32 it only showed something like 217BHP, BUT that car posted some superb stats even when down on 'quoted' power: 0-60 5.8, 0-100 15.2. BrakeSnake
I used to have the first incarnation of the S3 and at almost 300 bhp, it absolutely flew... I would be very tempted by the new S, but at 30k, its looks and interior, I still think the original is by far the best. The test drive I had the other week was very impressive, but after walking away from it, I realised I hadn't bothered to open the window to listen to the noise it made... The R simply makes me grin from ear to ear when you give it welly... Having said that, the new .S is a fantastic car and is most definately a Q car stealth killer... For all those who have one, enjoy.....
