Woppum
Just popped down to Hudsons to drop off the 65 and pick up the 430. I had a good look at all their selection. A Zonda S cab in pearlescent yellow and Zonda F coupe in pearlescent white (simply the best looking car I have ever seen!) And a couple of LP640's, one in blk and one in a wine. As I got in the showroom I walked straight over the the Lambo. To be honest I thought it was the old one. To my eyes it looks exactly the same. I got inside, but really didnt spend long in their, what there to look at!? Very very bland interior - I really think Audi could have done better. From the outside, it looks actually quite compact. Certainly not as big as you would think. A fair bit smaller in every way to a Zonda for example. One of the salesman told me he saw 190mph on the M1 too! So its fairly usable! The wheels looked very small. They were 18"'s I think, but they just dindt fill the wheel arches. It could really have done with that, for some reason the small wheels made the car actually look a bit dated. In conclusion, I have no longing for this car. Next to the Zonda it really didnt look much, but then nothing does. I think Audi should have tried harder to make the 640 look newer. The 430 may look similar to the 360, but the 640 looks virtually the same! Still they are still changing hands over list. The 2 Hudsons had in stock were up for £255k. I thought I read that every panel is new. Not to mention a totally new engine and name....

Woppum
O I see. So this should last it another 5yrs ish. I take it like the 550, Maybach, Phantom etc the big Lambo works on a 10yr life cycle then?
vito
I have seen one in our local dealer in grey and yes it comes with 18s very poor I think if you want bigger wheels you have to spec it and then they ram you for more cash makes the Gallardo seem a much better car to buy IMO

Also, to my knowledge they have never had a totally new engine - the latest evolution of the V12 still shares more than a bit of drivetrain history with the Diablo and even the Countach
Woppum
Anyway I still think it was a very poor show from Lambo. Comparing the interior if it with the 599 brings alot of shame on the company in my opinion. They just havent moved it on at all. It may be quick but sadly IMHO its just another Lambo looking like its trying to hard to be cooler than school!
vito
In many ways makes the Gallardo seem the better car to go for value for money still looks as good just needs the doors and you can get them fitted if you really want. Get a good spec Gallardo in the right colour with the new e gear and thats the better car
bazza_g
but no matter what you do to the Gallardo, it won't make it a V12

bazza_g
[ QUOTE ] Cant be that good as prob more V10s and V8s doing just as good a job the V12 is a big lump [/ QUOTE ] The LP640's V12 manages 640bhp from 6.5L - even Merc's best non-blown V8 manages 'only' 510bhp from 6.3L - when talking V10's most put out 500-520bhp from anywhere between 5.0 and 8.3L (in the Viper) Why else would Ferrari, Pagani and Lambo stick with V12's for their top cars? - for power and noise it does the business
Woppum
V12's emit a very straight line, refined noise. My personal favorite is a V8. There is such a depth of character. However I have only driven blown V12's like the 65 or puny ones like the Vanquishes so I cant really judge. Been in an Enzo and heard the Pagani though and they are pretty damn special. vito
Fair point Bazza but they are all super cars and its not all about power these days weight too F1 cars dont use V12s I have driven V12 mercs and V12 Astons and V12 Ferraris maybe its just me I am a big fan of the V8 the Ferrari 430 has more than enought power for any person driving it on the roads and IMO anyone that says that they need more than 500 bhp for the public roads is talking
Woppum
The Lambo is so wide too. You couldnt have fun threading it down your favorite back double.

vito
True Bazza but I am refering to proper cars like the 430,911 turbo ,Gallardo ,M5,M6 etc all these cars have more than enought power for the roads never mind the track.
