mister_chase
Hi there! I have an A3 2.0 tdi with DSG. Recently when selecting reverse gear, the parking sensors give a longer single beep than usual and then nothing. Anyone else has problems with their sensors? sprinter1801
Hello Mate Got the same problem with my car (2001 A4 2.5 TDI) Had a look with vag com this afternoon and it says that the front middle sensor is short to 12v. So sensor or control box are u/s Try cleaning them first if not try and get the fault copy read off
mister_chase
They packed up after visiting the local russian hand wash chaps so dont think its a cleaning issue. As suggested will get the code read and post up results. will keep u posted M
Kaskat
Did they jet wash your car?
mister_chase
indeed they did. I notice from your sig you are a Douglas Adams fan. Top Man!
Kaskat
Caught out yes I am a fan of the man. The reason for asking about the jet washing is that if they point the jet wash directly at your reversing sensors the preassure will kill the sensor dead this has happend to me twice before I made the connection, it does say in the manual that you can jet wash the car but in future I will be very careful in doing so both time Audi replaced the sensors under warranty, needless to say I didn't tell them of the jet washing
mister_chase
Thats interesting. I hadnt even thought of that. mines just over the 3 years so warranty might be stretch. Will have to wait and see what the fault reader says.
TDiAvant
Were they a retro fit? If you have 1 faulty sensor then the hole system can be disabled.
mister_chase
They were factory fited mate. I went to the garage i put my fleet vehicles through and the reader brought back no error codes. I booked it into audi for next weekend and then the damn things started working again. I cancelled the booking and they have packed up again this morning - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
gizze
Alot of the guys on the BMW forum came to the conclusion that it is moisture that causes this, it shorts out the sensor. If you dry them out properly and clean all the contacts on the inside they are as good as new. That is why this time of year you get more problems than in the summer.
