Mollox
Twoz a beast I'll give you that And it looked soooo 'innocent' and 'standard' too Which is what made overtaking you on the M25 in your mousse-mobile last month so satisfying But wait, hold on, didn't someone overtake the '4 in a .....diesel?? IanSamson
Full beans. Well I suppose not. I just test drove it yesterday and placed a 500 squid deposit. So it is not in my possession yet. I'm just trying figure out the mods on the car, the associated insurance cost and just how valid the Audi warranty is (apparently they now tell me non-standard Audi parts are not covered by an Audi warranty - should've seen that coming really). Anyway, I want to know exactly what I'm getting before paying over the balance of the money. MacRS4 has been very helpful, if it weren't for him, I'd be buying the thing a bit blind. Salesman's description of the mods were: its chipped to 460bhp, its got a sports exhaust and a modified clutch. Test drive had me scared with the salesman's clutch control. When I test drove it, I was impressed by the beautiful, effortless speed. As if everything around you is standing still and you are the only thing moving. Anyway, all being well, I might actually be driving the car in a week or two. I shall then report back with the "full beans" analysis/feeling. Rather frustrating though - like as a kid when your mum puts the big pressies under the Xmas tree 2 weeks before Xmas and you know you can't have 'em. Mac
The Car makes your eyes bleed - What more do you want???? From a passenger point of view - You find the grab handles very quickly!!!!! Kels xxxx
Insurance Jon
With regard to the warranty I'd be very carefull. I got my hands burnt at franklin Audi.....but in the end Audi bought the car back and gave me some hush money too...but it was a fight took 4 months to sort out. BTW I'm not knocking Macca's car...just Audi salemen and their version of what is covered. My engine went bang and the dealer shrugged his shoulders saying it wasn't covered because it was chipped...when I bought it from them like that! IanSamson
I do hope it doesn't go pop. Journey Man, on what sort of car did your engine go pop and how tuned was it? Also, what does the Quick Shift do? On a motorbike they allow you to change up while keeping the throttle nailed. Is this the same on a car? Hopsta
Jon's car was an RS4 and the short shifter just reduces the throw between gear changes by about 30% i think.
IanSamson
Good to know. If I'd tried the same trick as on race bike, it would probably make a nasty sound.
Insurance Jon
sorry should have been a bit clearer. 1. It was an RS4 2. Tuned pretty muchthe same way as Macca's chip, down pipes, cats, chip etc 460+ bhp Just died thats all!
IanSamson
OK. I've bottled it and pulled out of the deal. If one in a similar state of tune has blown, so could another one. Can't be doing with a 32k car with a blown engine and an Audi dealer telling me it's mine to sort out. Think I'll look round for a standard example. Maybe, 380 bhp is enough after all. Adam
shame - I would buy it but ask for a full money back guarantee in writing if engine blows or similar (less £x per week/mile for deprn)

Yet, you've got to feel confident about a car you buy. If you don't it doesn't feel right anyway.
IanSamson
Yeah, just didn't feel right in the end. The Audi garage didn't want to issue one of those "if it blows up, will give you your money back" guarantees. The search continues. What about that 400 bhp S4 on the AMD website? A cheap RS4 substitute, although rather high miles. At least if it blows up, you don't lose as much money.
Mollox
I'd take the 460bhp RS4 any day over a 400bhp S4 if i was worried about it going pop. Having said that, to get an S4 (2.7 Biturbo) to 400 horses you pretty much have to upgrade the key components to RS4 parts anyway. Its a shame - I would have bought Mac's car at the drop of a hat if i had the cashola. It was Verrrry nice
IanSamson
Yes, I'd also choose the 460bhp RS4 everything else being equal. It's just that the prices aren't equal - i.e. I'd rather have a 13k car with a blown engine (the 400bhp S4) than a 33k car with a blown engine (the Mac RS4). shao_khan
400 from an S4 seems a lot? I mean Pauls that is forsale ( here ) is a nice car - but I am sure it isnt 400 bhp
Mac
Well I think its just a risk that you have to accept with any tuned car or any car thats out of warranty.
