Clembo
Hi there, tis coming to that time when the Passat will soon be needing some new tyres. Has anyone got any recommendations on tyre choice? Currently have Conti Sport Contact (I think). And finally does anyone have any experience using Black Circles, mytres etc?. Thanks
msey
I have used My-Tyres for my Audi A8 and they were great. Ordered them and they arrived 2 days later. Good Service. They also recommend places to have them fitted. I used a local garage, and gave them £5 per tyre for the coffee fund.
meriafel
Conti Sport Contact 2's are reasonably priced and good performance. Have just ordered another set, 205/55/16 W rated at £68 each fitted and balanced. (You can have a lower speed rating for 15 inch)
pugboy
I have used mytyres several times. Obviously check your local tyre outlet though as sometimes its not much more money. Dont bother with the major tyre outlets though as they are to pricey. I'm running on Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD's. 205/55/16's were £62 from mytyres and I paid a tenner to have them fitted. Possibly not the most suitable tyre for a big old barge like the Passat as they are sports biased, but they do seem to have improved steering feel (at the expense of a slightly firmer ride). v23
Having had Conti Sport Contact 2s in the past and recently some Goodyear NCT 5s I'd certainly go back to the Contis
Clembo
Thanks guys for the advice. I think I'll be sticking with the Conti's. They seem to last a fair time and I've never had any slips in them.
karlpearson
I use Pirelli P9000's on mine, they are a little bit noisy but stick to the road like glue in all conditions. Used to have Goodyear Eagles but they wore down and had to be replaced so quickly it was ridiculous.
Subzero
I have dunlop Sport SP01's on mine and the road noise is much less than the pirelli's which i had before.. Good grip aswell havnt noticed the TC light as often with the dunlops ..
pascalbrown
[ QUOTE ] I've had Vredestein Ultracs fitted all round on mine, superb!! £50 per tyre [/ QUOTE ] Where did you get them for that price? They're great tyres, I've got 2 on now and will upgrade to all 4 when I have to.
Clembo
How long do the Dunlop Sport SP01's last in comparison to other makes? They seem reasonably priced. Friend of mine said his never lasted that long. Though I guess alot of it depends on mileage etc?

Sorry, no help at all, really.
Subzero
:-) , Well i had mine fitted on 12/04/06 , i have done about 10,000 miles on them. They are still going, prob about 65% worn or so, they dont look like they need replacing any time soon.
