wyliss
Whats the best stuff to clean/nourish the leather on the my steering wheel/gerb knob/gaiter & handbrake ?. I know you are not ment to use silcone based stuff. Just need to make sure the leather is being looked after. Cheers
techieboy
I've never used anything other than a damp cloth on these bits. I use Liquid Leather from Gliptone for the upholsterey. I wouldn't risk putting any cleaning and conditioning products on the steering wheel in case it leaves any kind of oily residue or makes it more slippery. Avus_Bub
Go with a hot towel on the steering wheel if it's dirty. I once gave mine a very light going over with some Zymol Leather Conditioner. Click I use it on the seats and like it a lot. It keeps them nice and supple BUT doesn't make them shiny, just clean and matt. So perfect for the steering wheel. BUB

[/ QUOTE ] Best stuff to use on leather and highly recommend the Gliptone cleaner and conditioner. Absolutely fine to use on leather steering wheels, in fact leaves it slightly tacky but a good wipe with a m/f soon gets it as good as new. techieboy
You can get it direct from their website here or there are usually quite a few people selling the cleaner and conditioner on eBay. Great stuff and makes the car really smell of leather.

Also when cleaning the parts with the perforations in like the steering wheel does it fill the small holes or just and look stupid or soak in like it snot been there before? Just realised we have the same vehicle..........how is it for you ?
techieboy
Hi dibbs, Yes, you need to get the two of them, assuming you want to clean everything. If they don't need cleaning, just get the conditioner which is the important bit. One tip for you, apply it with a foam applicator pad, like you'd do with with polish/wax for the bodywork. Goes on really smoothly that way and you get a nice thin even coat. As to the car. I'm still loving it after nearly a year. Still love the smooth power delivery and handling that the quattro gives. Just upgraded my rear anti-roll bar to the 22mm RS4 anti-roll bar last week and that's made a significant difference to the handling. As others have said, it feels much more planted on the road and roundabouts are a real joy. I didn't really believe the hype about it but for the £58 it cost plus half an hours labour to fit it, well worth it! Next to come is the replacement Milltek sports cats to go with the existing Milltek system and a custom remap to finish it all off. I swore I wasn't going to go down the modifying route and thats why I went with the Special Edition S-Line, but you know how it goes....... Enjoy! wyliss
I have the terry towel applicator pads fro Elite car care will these be ok or are the foam ones better all round for this and waxing etc
techieboy
I'm sure they'll be fine. Not sure which are better, bare foam or terry cloth wrapped foam. I'll probably start a religious war by even comparing them on here! Personally, I prefer the foam ones but that's only because I seemed to get in a real mess with the terry versions. That's more likely to be down to me adding too much polish to them though. I think its probably a case of "each to their own" as it is with any detailing related products. Everybody seems to have their own preferences here (which is good) but there does seem to be consensus on Liquid Leather being top notch.
