Is this retrofit nice and simple on a B6 S4 by anychance?

You don't need to Sam - S4's have the ambient LED's in the roof console and all four interior door handles (not to mention footwells, under the front seats & under the doors) all as standard. Only the rear LED's need retrofitting as that wasn't standard on any cars.

Rear retro LED fit done and dusted in about 1 hour in the dark on a cold wet night!

tools required,

6.5mm drill bit, broad blade screw driver masking tape, permanent marker, ruler super glue and a big pair of balls!

[/ QUOTE ] Right.....frm the big pair of balls thing I think I will leave it !. Knowing my luck I'll end up making a mess of the headling or something.....cheers

You don't get anywhere near the rear headlining? ... you pop out the rear light fitting and just have to drill the 2 holes for the LEDs in that.

If you do mess up the worst case would be a new rear light fitting.

Have fitted this about a month ago now on my B7 S LIne Avant. It's pretty straight forward but I would suggest you measure it properly, make a template then go for a coffee before getting the drill out. 6.5mm seemed a bit big so I drilled smaller which gave me the option of going bigger if I screwed up. When you drill make sure it is supported by some wood and secured otherwise the plastic will splinter and ruin the effect.

Soldering was straight forward and fixing with some super glue or similar worked well.

The effect is very......subtle though, I have dark leather/alcantara so it doesn't show much on the seats. But with passengers there are in a dim red glow. Anything that does shine a bit like the ashtray cover will look good though.

It's a good cheap retrofit and worth doing on a saturday afternoon listening to the fotball on five live....

Go for it...

Did it on my RS4 Avant the day after I collected it.

Measure three times(!), drill once, glue in place and solder two wires.

Looks really cool on silver leather rear seats.

They don't look too bad on pov' model silver half leather either...... tongue.gif
