One thing I miss about the UK is the track days.. Donington, Cadwell, Oulton Park etc....

I'm doing my first NZ thrash at Taupo this Friday. Its quite a hike from where I live (about 4 hours)... tomorrow will be a long day - up before 6, work from 7 till 3, go home then drive (past work again) to the track, camp over, get up Friday morning ,do the track day, drive home.... buggered...

January !!! Jesus !!! I assume that is on your motard thing.... I am all in favour of banishing motards to the winter months....

The bike is being trailer-ed down so it shouldn't be too arduous... I've done the ride to and from Trackday thing before and its a killer...

I'll post some pics of my billy-no-mates trip when I get back... 169144-ok.gif

Blimey didnt you recently buy that gorgeous Blade?

Soon ran it in mate.

I'm thinking of getting a BMW 1200GS or a VFR800 but living down here on the South Island having snags locating decent bikes.

Have a good one!

Track day went well.... bit chaotic compared to the uk but quite laid back and the guys there were friendly so it didnt feel like I was doing it on my own. Track is challenging.... you can make the most time up on the tight sections and by sheer bottle on the half mile long straight (I bottle it over 140mph). It reminded me a lot of Rockingham only with a huge aircraft runway of a straight tagged on... Bike ran well. Rev limiter kicks in a bit cos it dont rev as high as the R1I had in the UK and I find it a bit quiet so a yoshi is on the cards. BT015 tyres were impressive and didnt fall apart like some soft trackday tyres usually do on me (mind you I wasnt pushing hard) but didnt quite have the same feel... happy enough though.

Some video by a lad in my group I chased all day here

Anyway... a few pics HERE including a few of me not trying hard enough on the bike. Also, a few pics of me brand new track day tow car.... A Subaru Legacy GT spec B. 2 litre turbo. Basically a nice sensible practical family estate car with a feck off Subaru impreza Sti 280bhp engine in it... Anyway, its ****in magic and a worthy replacement for me beloved old old Audi A8.... only trouble was I got nicked for speeding well over the limit on the way home and they nailed me hat on.... bugger !!!

Have got 3 days lined up... 26th March at Pukekohe (maybe) , 20th April (Taupo) and 6th May (Taupo)
