Merlot
When I was collecting my TTR (brilliant BTW) I sat in a Sport A8 straight afterwards and felt it was now looking old. I recently sold my D3 and was thinking about getting a cheap W12 but now I'm not so sure. Incidently, anyone care to comment on how different a LWB W12 will drive compared with a SWB? edo
I think it rates as one of the best interiors about - as has been said ina number of reviews. I think it looks newer in Black without naff coloured wood.
Merlot
I agree with the black comment. Mine had that and birch grey wood which was good. The car I sat in was beige with the regular wood.
J_C
Having sat in the new Lexus LS (VERY disappointing) and S Class (a lot better) at Geneva the D3 interior is still best in segment IMO, especially so in the case of the S8 (drool...). Chris_B
[ QUOTE ] Incidently, anyone care to comment on how different a LWB W12 will drive compared with a SWB? [/ QUOTE ] Considerably, especially if it hasn't got sport suspension. The combination of standard suspension and the extra 13cm makes it a lot floatier round corners, and it feels a lot less glued to the road. The acceleration from standing start is slower because the SWB has the lower ratio final drive, but in trade off, the LWB has arguably better 100 mph+ acceleration (doesn't feel like it has though, as far as I recall) and more relaxed cruising through the higher final drive plus the W12's mighty 580 Nm peak torque. If I was chosing, I'd go (and did go) SWB for the sportier drive. The D3 interior looks best in black, with alcantara/leatehr seats and either the grey birch or carbon trim IMHO. I may be biased though!
Merlot
Thanks you've confirmed my thoughts - bin any idea of a LWB. Shame as SWB W12's are no longer built so the supply of cheap ex Audi UK cars will be replaced by S8's but I don't like the S8's sports seats. [/ QUOTE ] I'm sure they're the same seats as I had in the W12 anyway, and I doubt you'd get a SWB W12 without them if they were standard. You could try a seat swap with an LWB A8 of any kind though, if you really don't like the sport seats. I've found them to be pretty good personally, as good as the S4, old S8 or RS 6 seats. Merlot
I find my B6 S4 seats to be wonderful (and the B5 S4 before). The seats on my TT2 are excellent too (good news for those with R8's on order)but I found the back rest of the D3 sports seats to be uncomfortable. FWIW I've seen quite a few SWB W12's with the comfort seats which is probably the way I would need to go if I get back into a D3.
