Simonl
How much difference is there between these two cars. I've been hovering around the BMW website for a while and quite fancy an M Sport. I would love a 335d, but just not sure if i can afford it. They seem to be around 7k more than a similar specced 330d. I presume that handling, chassis and dynamics would all be the same, it just comes down to the engine. What are the differences (2 turbos vs 1?), what is the power delivery like, and what about resale (Gareth ; ?!?) My other option is a current X5 3.0D, i'm jsut a little worried about residuals on the later models (05/55)
gizze
The difference is immense, the figures don't do it justice.
allanon_1980
I have to agree. Ive driven a work colleagues 530D extensively and it doesnt even compare to my own 335d. Now I know it is heavier etc etc but the difference is immediately noticeable. On a side note, I wonder what red brake calipers would look like on my black 335d?? Or am I taking leave of my senses. Simonl
I'd stay off that slippery slope barry.

[/ QUOTE ] I think it would take away some of the subtlety of the car myself The 335D really is a rocket. I have not driven the 330D so I can't really compare, but the speed of my 335D compares favourably to my S4 in any real life driving situations... bobbypig
I drove both, 330d disappointed me, didn't feel at all fast, even though figures are reasonable. 335d vastly better in every way. Then tried 335i and decided better still so own that now but close and would recommend 335d heartily.
gizze
I agree, the 335d is great and has loads of shove, and if you remap it is going to be low 5's to 60mph and more importantly the time to 100mph will be in the 13 second mark which is very impressive. Plus you will get 30mpg all day long, 35mpg on a run, which can't be bad.
imageking
last brimmed fill up on the 335D 58 litres covered 557.8 miles = 43.7 MPG (OBC = 44.1mpg) That included 15 miles of early morning fun squirting out of villages and corners and keeping a 997 Turbo at bay
Oli
Wow, that is some fuel economy out a car cxar as fast as the 335D
