A Detailed Motor Sells Darn Fast!

Just finished a massive detail on the Freelander I had planned to sell. Got it all done by Thursday last week after about a month of on/off detailing with the new PC and products I got. Stuck For Sale notes in the windows and parked on the corner of my street on Friday and today, Monday.

Have received over a 15 calls regarding it and got the asking price of £3,500 for it this afternoon. The guy came back with a deposit and will be picking up on Friday!

Just goes to show how much more saleable any motor is once properly detailed!

The Freelander is in good shape mind you with only 45k on the clock, but it is a 98 R plate 1.8 petrol edition that are supposedly difficult to shift due to HGF issues with that engine. I had the work done to replace the gaskets, dowels and modified oil pump over 15 months ago mind you but still chuffed with the result from today.

The people could not believe that it was a 98 model and insisted on seeing the log book before handing over the deposit!

Cheers to all those who have answered my queries whilst getting it back to mint condition and look forward to the next challenge...a mint condition Flash Red 95 Golf Driver. At least the advert said mint...

Great news that and I agree. I sold my 2003 audi TT at the end of last year and I detailed it before sale. The usual poker faced people who came to see it just ended up laughing and grinning between themselves because they just could not believe the condition it was in. Got the asking price too after 10 mins of them turning up!

Mind you it did look better than a brand new one - was sorry to see it go.

Cheers,

Ben.

Will be sorry to see the Freelander go tbh. I know it is not as exotic as most motors on here but have enjoyed using it.

They just could not stop grinning either as been looking for cars all day and from outside our area and only found ours because they got lost. They reckon that they must have seen and driven about 25 cars today in total and none were anywhere near the condition of ours even upto 3-4 years newer.

I told them that they did not even come and clean as this when delivered new! It raised an eyebrow until they realised I was serious!

Cheers Geoff,

tbh I have not checked yet as not had a great deal of time and had to give the Freelander and the missus' A2 a good once over on the weekend, slotted in around the rest of my "list"!

Have been determined that I was not going to touch the Golf until the Freelander sold as wanted to keep that looking pukka for people viewing.

Will be taking a look on the weekend though, fingers crossed...

Was not quite sure what your reply meant!

lol, typical that Geoff's post followed both of ours and understandable why you got confused as neither of us have our first name in the username too.

Enjoy your new purchase fella! My Golf will only be a runabout but is a very nice 1 owner very clean car that has been dealer serviced its entire life and oil changed and serviced between every 6 and 12 months with a maximum of 6k miles done, sometimes only 3k! Got receipts and dealer sheets for things as small as a missing cap on a number plate screw!!!

Had an A3 T Sport before with the same engine as your Golf though and it rocked. Was sorry I got rid of it for sure!
