Rustynuts Posted June 1, 2007 Report Share Posted June 1, 2007 9 and 16 are the same functional part but for different gearbox codes, so your gearbox code dictates which part number it needs. If yours has a DQS code transmission, then you need part number 9 (8D0 399 151 M), could be up about £40. Dealer will know from your reg number (possibly) what code gearbox you have and as such, what part you need. They're both the same part no. but different suffix letters (16 being J suffix instead of M). I know enough about alternators to know that I shouldn't touch.
