Ari
Had the brake pad low warning light come on. So car went in this morning to be fixed. I expected it to need new front pads as nothing ever done to brakes yet. Turns out it needs new front pads, new front discs (they were within 0.3mm of minimum allowable or something), and new rear pads. Seems a bit excessive after 41,000 miles, wondered what other people were getting out of theirs? (Car is 1.8T Sport Cabriolet).
activa
How low were the pads? If they were really low then that could be the answer. It doesn't take very long for them to score the discs, make a lip,and leave you needing new ones.

The warning light has only been on a few days though...

lottiefox
New front pads and discs on the TT at 24K. From memory the cab also had new front pads done at 24K when I part exed it. I'd say 41K is a good life.
lesK
Blimey guys! I changed my front pads a couple of weeks back and I don't think they have been changed before and I'm at 80k. I say they haven't been changed because the bolts were still painted green? and I had a hell of a job getting the calipers undone. (they actually split my socket !had to use a ring spanner) I do do almost all motorway miles which will help I know.

CabGirl
The cab had new pads a few weeks ago at 28k but I don't think the TT has yet at 60k... but I might be wrong!
oneforsorrow
Had pads and disks done on mine not long after I bought it so it was probably around the 30k mark.
Frodo
My A3 SB Q had its second service recently and they commented on the pads and discs. Hoping to get another few thousand before the light comes on which will be around 35K. Then I can combine pads, haldex oil and filter. How much are 4 pads to be replaced by the dealer? Ari
Sounds like it's about right then, good to know. The bill for four news pads (ie front and rear) and new front disks was about £300 I think (bill is in the car still, I'll have a look in a bit). shark_90
You probably didn't need discs, it's one of those things that the dealer will nearly always tell you to get done. I think ChasDrury has been told he's needed new pads for the last three services My A4 (previously J_C's) was at 79.5k when I sold it, still on the original discs with it's 3rd set of front pads and 2nd set of rears.
